Who Did Your Clear Bra (Atlanta area) and...

...were you pleased with the results? Cost? Type? How much coverage?

(thanks in advance)

Derek Johnson, Atlanta Protective Films - Atlanta's Choice For "Clear Bra" PPF

600 for hood, bumper and mirrors. He also did my C6 and is the only one I will let do my cars, as he is a perfectionist. I had the corvette originally done by someone else and was very disappointed.

Same guy did mine. Good guy.

Slynky 02-02-2010 12:04 PM

Thanks for the replies, guys! Looks like he has been trusted with some EXPENSIVE cars !

Without doing a lot of research on Xpel film (here and internet), is this the kind that you wax or don't wax? (the wax I use, Ultima Paint Guard +, can be put on the poly/plastic parts according to the directions, unlike some other waxes that say NOT to get it on trim)

That price, how much coverage on the hood?

AND, finally, would it do either of you any good to mention your real names for some kind of discount (for either you guys or me)?

semtex 02-02-2010 12:14 PM

Yes, you wax Xpel. Standard coverage on a hood is like the first third. But Derek will go over all your options with you. He can even do the full hood if you want. You can tell him that Ben with the blue 370Z recommended him. Mine was the first 370Z he ever did.

Oh, and I forgot to ask... DOH !!

I read his site over pretty much...not that there is a lot there but...

It's not clear to me where he says they won't use a knife on your car/paint. It LOOKS like maybe they wrap the edges...is that true?

Quote:

There is never any "hand cutting" like many other installers. A knife will never be touched to your paint, and edges are not cut and wrapped under or around.

semtex 02-02-2010 01:47 PM

No, there's no wrapping. All his pieces are precision cut beforehand. He cuts them before he shows up at your place to put them on.

Yeah. If you have a garage, he'll come do it in your garage. He came and did mine in my garage.

Yep, he loves me because I have central airconditioning in my garage, and it was late June!

^ The height of decadence... LOL. Well, not actually. Jimmy and Tammy Fay Baker's air condtioning in their dog house tops that... Hehe.

actually, I powdercoated the rotor hats on a set of cheap chinese rotors for a local customer and the plating peeled off, so I didn't charge him anything, even though it peeled in the wear area. He and I became good friends, he sells AC for Cool-Ray, and pulled 2 brand new undersized units out of a house and replaced them, so he called me one day and asked if I wanted a free air conditioner for my garage/shop, all I would have to pay is the installation parts, and he would install it for me, so it was a no-brainer!

It is the most awesome thing with a large powdercoat oven running at 400 degrees in August with outside temps near 100 and being able to keep the shop at 70 degrees :D

yep, every time I have had any issue with a customer, I have gone out of my way to resolve it in a manner that is satisfactory to them, and they are my best supporters and repeat customers.
