Car Sluggish
Hi guys,
2017 Nismo. I did a few upgrades over the winter and did my first drive today. Installed FI TDX catback and Soho CAI. Reverted back to OEM Flywheel and clutch ( removed Zspeed lightweight) The throttle is extremely unresponsive and car does not want to accelerate with pedal to floor. I tried to climb a short hill in 2nd gear, with pedal floored, and it was not accelerating. No lurching or sputtering, or any roughness noted. Is this normal for breathing mod updates such as mine? Am I only able to resolve this with a tune? No CEL. Thanks in advance zz |
I just did a thorough search and seems that this is common issue and I need a tune.
Will driving long distance, allow ECU to adjust? will a ECU reset help out? 53,000 Km. |
2.5” or 3” CAI? A tune will definitely help but your issue sounds a little extreme. Although not recommended, I think a lot of people do exhaust and intake without a tune and don’t have the issue you’re having.

The SOHO custom intakes are 2.71" in diameter and per their install instructions/recommendations the vehicle will not run correctly without a tune after install ! Some vehicles wont start at all due to the maf sensors reading incorrect ratios and logging the ecu.

I dont remember an install manual. In fact, I think I just got some pictures sent to me from soho after I asked them about a manual/instructions. Having said that, on their website it states: *A TUNE IS REQUIRED TO ACHIEVE MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE* Nothing about it won't run correctly. Not trying to be an ***. I aknowledged the potential for engine faults. Nor am I blaming SOHO for anything. If their statement said what you quote: "per their install instructions/recommendations the vehicle will not run correctly without a tune after install " I wouldn't be here asking questions. I'd be getting a tune. ;) I would love a copy of your installation guide, if you still have it. Maybe I did something wrong. :tiphat: |

Finally threw some codes. P0101 and P010B. MAF sensor circuit bank 1 bank 2. Nissan did a check on live data and B1 B2 Alphas at 135% ! So, running very lean. I noticed my fuel tank litterally emptying in front of my eyes. Very extreme for such a minor bolt on. |
The Z1 long tube intake is big as you can go in diameter before needing a tune. Anything bigger needs a tune. Anything bigger upsets the air flow. There has been a few posts on this issue.

Whats the size of the Z1 vs the soho 69mm? Can it be that much? |

From FSM: "The signal then triggers a reduction in fuel volume if the mixture ratio is rich, and an increase in fuel volume if it is lean." |
