My FX35 with the 7-speed and paddles is identical to the Z. I just have a little less power with the 3.5. The new models should have the reprogrammed TCU.

My FX35 with the 7-speed and paddles is identical to the Z. I just have a little less power with the 3.5. The new models should have the reprogrammed TCU. It works a little better, but don't expect the smoothest transmission ever. It's quirky, but does it's job quite well. Even my FX tank gets moving in a hurry with the 7 gears. The only thing is, the computer shuts you out a little more than manually shifting the old 5-speed auto. The lockup torque converter locks much earlier than any of the previous models. I really like that. You can feel it lock right in. (Of course, not when it's cold.) The best on the market that isn't a sequential is still the ZF 6-speed full auto, but the Nissan 7-speed is pretty nice. It does it's job well.
