Some money to burn Upgrades
Hello HiveMind, long story short, I've got some money to burn and thought putting some on some upgrades would be fun. So I'm looking for opinions.
I own a 2019 Nismo Have $8K to spend I'd love to see some horsepower increases but don't really want to mess with forced induction. Not opposed to suspension upgrades. Not opposed to cosmetic upgrades. Lets see what you've got! |
I think you should narrow it down to what you like and want to accomplish.
It’s really easy to burn that 8K on a couple of things, thinking nice wheels/tires and basic suspension. On the other hand, really easy to do major cosmetics and rack up that 8k. Do you want balanced and blended across options? |
Intakes, high flow cats and full cat back should set you back about $5k, get a carbon fiber hood and side splitters or some wheels and tires you are at $8k and haven’t even touched suspension, stereo or interior upgrades. $8k can go very quick.

1. Cat Back
2. High Flow Cat or Test pipes, with tune. 3. Wavetec Differential In that order, will add some sound and power without changing drive quality like a suspension could. Ascetics are personal preference, you have a nismo so it looks great as is. Changing the intake will likely not be compatible with any force induction later on. And the stock intake is not bad. |
Some money to burn Upgrades

No mention of long tube headers? or have we determined not really required for amount of work and cost?

Personally, I'd do what I did to my car:
-suspension upgrades -os giken lsd -shorter final drive -better exhaust and intake -if money left - new tyres |
One set of Forgeline rims or a set of JRZ 4 way coilovers will burn that $8K, plus more.
Don't ask me how I know. :shakes head: |
Like others have said $8k will go quick.
For me - I decided to do my 'power' upgrades first: 1. z1 intakes 2. Fast Intentions CBE 3. Fast Intentions HFC 4. Tune and that was about $5k ish (don't hold me to it) If I had more money left over - I'd probably do some Fortune Auto 500s with swift springs. Then look to start the suspension mods so I don't run through tires with some SPL (but that alone gets super expensive). |
Keep the car stock and get hookers and blow

Address the CSC
Address the oil cooling If that's done, my next considerations would be (not all together, but mix and match inside of the budget): LSD/Final drive Coilovers/camber arms Tune (if you already got bolt ons) |
Honestly all good suggestions here. I would prioritize whatever annoys you the most about the car and address that.
Intakes,Catback/HFC/Tune wll give you a good power bump. After that, I'd go with a set of wheels to personalize it a bit. |

I fall in the latter three categories. I literally bought my MD headers with HFC modules for the sound. (and it honestly did improve the powerband a bit). |
Thanks!
Thank you all for the wealth of experience and ideas here. Sounds like I need to come up with a better plan :-)
Although the 'Hookers & Blow' option is 'fantastic'! The Z1 Touring Exhaust sounds fantastic on their site - anyone have any experience with it? I've been looking at the Z1 Cold Air Intake that relocates the filters to inside the front bumper. I think this car handles exceptionally well, do the coilovers and upgraded braces make that much of a difference? (Don't hate on me, I've been driving a Jeep Wrangler on a 4" lift for 25+ years before I picked this 370 up). I had looked into upgrading the audio... that CerwinVega spare tire sub looks amazing. I do have the Bose system and have read the post concerning upgrading it. Maybe I'll see what the above will run (as you all said, sure I could spend alot more) and throw the rest at my '97 Jeep Wrangler. Very much appreciate all the input! |
