Weight on rear view mirror

I have been trying to find a way to mount a gopro Max in the cabin to record my mexico runs with mates.

I tried many setups, flex claw, adhesive mounts, and recently the boom mount. But I cannot find a comfortable and suitable way to get the gopro in a good position for recording.

I am now thinking of trying a mount on the rear view mirror to hold the gopro Max. Does anyone know if this would be a safe move or don't risk it? Anyone know what max weight the rear view mirror could hold?

No idea, but it holds a radar detector without an issue.

I am guessing if the company Blendmount has a kit to upgrade their mirror mount to GPpro, then the mirrors will hold the weight. I am using a blendmount to hold my radar detector. You'd have to get a blendmount for the 370Z first and then the following adapter, I would guess.

Why would you hang a gopro instead of using a vacuum mount? It mounts directly to the windshield and works like a charm. Much simpler, and it doesn't interfere with your field of view.

Are you talking about just the suction cup thing?

Yeah. There are plenty on the market and they are super reliable. Isn't that simpler than hanging it off of the rearview mirror? I had it mounted already on both my windshield as well as trunk glass, went to the track and the gopro is super stabile there.

I always prefer my recording device to be outside the car if possible. Suction cup mounts work great. Plenty of people use them at very high speeds.
