i didn't buy the nismo to race other cars. i bought the car because it looked and ride like a track car. whether it was faster than the base 370z did not concern me. when i was growing up, my dream car was the porsche 911 turbo carrera. to me, the nismo looks very close to the 911 turbo carrera with the large rear wing and wide body style. |

actually i have to disagree on the touring too. I wouldn't use/don't care about the mirror and the aluminum pedals/trim, the seats are nice but i can just have mine recovered, and i would just put in my own system that was superior to the BLOSE system. On that note have you ever tried to re-wire a bose car? It isn't fun and involves taking half the car apart and cutting the hell out of your harness. Base is the way to go and it is still nicer than a touring 350z. The interior is more of an opinion thing though as the price on the factory stuff while inflated isn't totally nismo levels of overpriced.

some people say the nismo might be too raw for daily driving but its power steering and clutch operation are both lighter than my 2005 mercedes c320 sport sedan. |

To the OP, if you're looking for the best value, I agree that the Base/Sport is the best bang for the buck. But I will also say that sometimes you have to go with your gut over your brain. Do what you think is right for you. That's all that matters.

Haven't seen this mentioned yet - and it is maybe relevant. You could do a ton of work to a base+ with the money saved, but nissan would find a way to void your warranty in the event that something goes wrong. And, I have found, something always tends to go wrong sooner or later.
I have to agree on all accounts with the poster above me, the base+ is definitely a better value, and definitely can be better/more cost efficient if you plan on modding your car. But hell, its your car, get what YOU want. I don't post much on these boards, but I do read a decent amount. That being said, there is WAY to much **** measuring going on with these nismo vs. base+ debates. Who CARES? They are practically the same car, and we are all enthsiests of this car anyway...why does someone else car if I paid more for my car than they would have paid? |

because the touring is a viable option that is only slightly overpriced and does offer a large upgrade in comparison to the base. most people that own a Z don't really care about the radio so long as it sounds good which the bose does, while there are some who need more and add amps and subs. The touring has stuff i would never use but still adds value.
In contrast the NISMO package costs about 3 times what the parts are worth, and for a package marketed as a hardcore track machine it flat out fails. If i gave them grades the touring package would receive a b+ nice features and it is very much of what a touring package typically consists of and the price point is right. The only reason i didn't get it is because i knew that for me the stereo wasn't good enough and they cost twice as much for labor to change out and are a pain to swap. The nismo recieves a D- to an F because it doesn't meet most track guys expectations of a nismo (you could track a nismo 350z out of the box). to me if it were priced 4k less i might have considered it. If they included an oil cooler as well as doing a better job on the suspension to where there was at least a half G improvement over the sport, as well as including more of the touring options it might be worth what they charge. And like i said some nismo guys are ok but i have talked to more than one that have seriously handed me the "but my cars a NISMO" line. You may not be a **** but you better damn well expect that there are guys who are. There are a lot of NISMO owners who still can't accept that they don't own the sport cars on the track (I can't blame you because you did pay for it to be able to do that) and it always causes arguements like this and when we post up proof it either gets shucked off hence bobo's post about the break in period which was used to discredit 2 different articles and it's totally BS, or you just say we are jealous and regret buying our cars and we're just being ornery when the thread is about trying to save someone from buying the NISMO thinking it has magic track speed. |

Sorry but I still haven't been presented with an ounce of evidence that the Base/Sport is faster than a Nismo.
And BTW, you see how LONG that sentence is you wrote. Can you spell R-A-N-T? Let it go. No one is arguing with you about your choice of model. Quote:
