Need Help With Electrical Issues
The issue is my A/C does not get cold, Windshield wipers do not work, DRLs do not work, and the intelligent key warning light is on.
To give some back story; a previous owner did the ‘Always On’ mod for the DRL, but instead of just wiring it direct to the empty relay spot he put in a switch by the cup holders that way you could turn the DRL on/off whenever you want. Recently I flipped said switch and now I have all the problems listed in the first paragraph. Below has been my troubleshooting efforts so far: 1. Replaced Batteries in both key fobs and did not solve the intelligent key warning light issue. 1a. I found out that the truck of wacking the steering lock box with a hammer will allow me to start the car most of the time. Otherwise the car will not start. 2. I attempted to perform an IPDM self test and it will not work, the door switch is fine, but the test won’t initiate. 3. I checked the 12v power source in the empty relay spot to ground and got 0VDC. 4. I checked all of the fuses and no fuse was blown in the IPDM, the fuse box inside the car, and the other fuse box by the battery. 5. I removed all of the aftermarket wiring for the DRL done by the previous owner. 6. The horn, headlights, high beams, and taillights all work fine. I am unable to verify if the cooling fans work. (i mention this because these would be tested in the ipdm self test). My thoughts are that the actuating of the switch for my DRL may have caused damage to the IPDM in some way and replacing the IPDM might solve all of my issues, but I am confused because the other systems on the IPDM all work fine. Only the systems listed in my first paragraph are not functioning. I have been scouring the service manuals of all affected systems and haven’t been able to figure out what could be the problem. If each is it’s own problem or if they are connected by a single issue like something being grounded out or the IPDM itself being bad.

Not knowing where they connected the switch to, it's hard to say. However, my best guess is, the new switch may be turning things off when they are supposed to be on, or vise versa.
So the switch may be connected to a certain relay thats common to all those things. That's where I would start. |
