My last post was meant as a joke. You can go to the dealership and have them check if you want and only for them to take your money, but they will (or should) tell you the same thing: Your car is fine.

Default 370z running higher oil temperature after oil change

Does your car still come up to temperature in a normal manner? If it gets to 200F unusually quickly or slowly then sure u might have another problem with a sensor going bad.

But like we’ve said, if the only difference is the car getting to 200F now instead of 190F… you’re fine.

Lay off the cocaine. Or maybe take some more to chill the fvck out.

There is no way that the magnetic drain plug is affecting the oil temperature. 200 degrees is just fine. You're nowhere near any risk of having engine damage at that temperature.

I think you should really just do things yourself from now on to really give you peace of mind. A lot of things could effect your oil temperature such as how hot or cold it is outside, stop and go traffic, etc.

I mean, if you just started dating a hog that's putting more load on the engine to get up to speed so that will definitely heat up the oil.

Based on your earlier experience, have you considered the possibility that your "usual oil" was put aside (inadvertently) by the service rep at the front desk of the dealership and not brought to the attention of the oil change "technician", who simply followed his/her regular routine and went to the bulk drum of 0W-20 oil and pumped that into your car? In other words, are you certain that they used the Castrol 5W-30 that you provided?
I have them on video putting in the oil I provided.

It is 200F no matter what I do. Normal driving or getting on it it always comes back to 200. It used to be 185.

Nothing has changed in my driving behavior or anything. in 60 degree weather its still staying at 200 degrees. 200 when its 85 outside, 200 when its 60...

This oil temperature issue started IMMEDIATELY after I brought it in for an oil change. The temperature starting rising rather quickly compared to previously.

Update: After getting the oil change done again and the Greddy magnetic drain plug removed and replaced with the original OEM plug, the oil temperature dropped by 10 degrees! Now just driving normal oil temperatures are around 185-190 when they used to be 185. I'm okay with that discrepancy. I also did a few pulls and it never reached 200. With the Greddy drain plug I did the same and reached 220. Here are photos from after the oil change last week when the temps were settling at 190-200, and today when oil temps were settling at 185-190. I guess the Greddy magnetic drain plug did something to raise the oil temperature after all...

*I don't have a photo of it staying at 200 but that is what happened shortly after the first photo was taken.*
