It's a headache if you like to keep your car looking really tidy, IMO. Your car can look dirty a few days after you wash it.

But I'm the kind of person who comes back to my car in the parking lot and checks to make sure I don't have any door dings; I don't park under trees and I avoid parking near sprinklers. (In LA, watermarks from the crappy sprinkler water are really hard to get rid of.)

There's no argument that black looks mean as hell. I've also owned a pearl car, and it was much easier to keep clean. And things like scratches and little dings didn't show up as easily. Red has been just as easy. Black is only hard if you are in any way freaky about dirt/dust, waterspots, small scratches, etc. For me, it's not worth it anymore...

I had a black car for 3 years that was kept mostly outside. It isn't as bad as many will make it out to be but it sure is a pain compared to any other color.

When it is clean though it sure is worth it.

Would rubbing compound work on those little scratches? I think it would.

You can probably get rid of most scratches in the clear coating, but I'm no expert in this area.

I guess my point is with other colors you won't have to worry about that stuff nearly as much.

Black just has the potential to drive you nuts, that's all.

I think I understand why people are saying white because they don't think its worth the effort to have a really shiny black car.

Now I am thinking white on black with white around the rims and white brake pads and black tinted windows. I attached a image that I kinda like that I found. Tell me what you think

I really like the look of a black 370Z but I must say this car really looks good in white as well.

I'm guessing that any protective film that goes on the white will not show edges as easy as it does on black. Another consideration is if you are planning to get any carbon fiber parts and how that will offset against the color of the car.

I powder coated my second set of sport wheels white (for track use) and have yet to get a picture of them on the car, but ....the white wheels look great with the black car imho.

Yea, the black Z looks gorgeous when clean. But keeping it that way is almost impossible. I love my black Z, but loved my Pearl white 350 alot better..didn't show scratches and dirt as easily; which is why I'm getting the car painted QAB Pearl white in a month Still leaving some black tho. Going 2-tone

What do you mean about the carbon fiber parts?

A lot of people that I have talked to have said white on black so I am leaning towards that picture I posted right above.

so I am assuming the black is not worth the work? I would rather not work that hard and still have a good looking car in white and not have to work on it all the time?

If you were considering (not that you were, but just a thought) adding carbon fiber parts such as mirror covers, hood, front end grill/bumper etc that may influence your thoughts due to how the CF will contrast with different colors.

By ^ sounds like white is your color choice. White does look very good

Can't say it's not worth the work, but it is a pain in the azz. I like cleaning it out and washing it and all that good stuff, but I'm a neat freak when it comes to my car and it has to be as clean as possible at all times. So I'm getting tired of washing it 4-5 times a week. But like I said....when it's clean...it's GORGEOUS!
Bt I am opting to get the pearl white paint soon. I think the Z looks best in that color since it shows off the curves abit more than other colors. And looks clean when a little dirty!
