Key fob does not want to unlock doors or start car at times
I have a 2009 manual Z and the key fob will not lock/unlock the doors. The door locks on the interior work on both sides but the touch button on the exterior does not work. It often takes me 20-30mins just to get the car started after playing with the fob in the "fobgina" and start button. Car has a good battery and alternator testing good. Also brand new battery in key fob that was tested by a locksmith. Steering box fuse has been pulled for a while now so I know it doesn't have to do with that.

Make sure the batteries are good and if you have an EcuTek dongle, make sure it is not plugged into the OBDII port.

Do you have spare key fob? If you do, you can try to use it and see if you experience same issues. If you don’t have spare key fob I highly suggest you get it anyways.

Also, I’m having a problem getting it started lately and I know it’s the clutch switch. I have to mash my foot to the floor or past it, before it even thinks of turning over. Just spitballing here.... |
Check the antennae. Make sure they are still plugged in and in good shape. Locations are in the FSM (link in sig).

Myself (2009 370z) and brainrain have been stuck with this issue for quite some time. No mods on my car in terms of electronics. Replaced both fob batteries and recently the car battery, and my antenna connection looks fine (under center console).
Sometimes the fobs work fine, other times not. Not much of a pattern. I bought a Keyless Entry Control Module used from Ebay, but haven't had time to play with installing it. And it will probably require a trip to the dealer to program it either way. Will update here if I find anything out, but its not a high priority for me yet. |
I had this same issue with mine, replaced battery and it fixed it immediately
