Can 2010 370Z beat 2001 Porsche Carrera 4?

My friend has a 2001 Porsche Carrera 4. His is a stick shift. I have a 2010 370Z base sports. Mine is automatic. He's challenging me on a 1/4 mile private road. No twist and turn - road is as straight as an arrow.

I can't race him yet. My Z is still in a break-in period.

I have no doubt i can beat him if I have a stick shift. Not sure about Auto, though.

He raced against a 2007 Mustang Automatic last week. Mustang was no match. On third gear, his porsche already beat the mustang.

Should be close but you may actually take him. Especially since the 7AT is easier to get a very fast run than the 6MT.

it may be close...those went 0-60 in about 5.2 very similar to the Z (which i've seen anywhere from 4.7 to 5.3 depending on variables). his car is about 9 years old though, and they say a car loses power as it ages. i dont know how well he takes care of his car so if we assume average care, he has still lost a few ponies which would give you the edge. given everything, i think you have a pretty strong chance at beating him. just keep your foot planted on that pedal :)

Instead of racing you guys should just unzip your trousers, pull out your meat, and who ever is bigger wins. I just out ran the Star Trek Enterprise while it was in warp speed.

It's a dead heat. His lighter weight makes up for your extra horsepower. In theory, there should be a bout a .1 to .2 difference at most.
