Default Very Tempting - 2011 Shelby Mustang GT350

2011 Shelby Gt350 — Autoblog

This car looks sweet! I might get to learn to like that ugly backend that Ford came up with on their 2010 model.

And a note to you 3rd-party spoiler "wing" manufacturers: You see that small spoiler on the GT350? Now that is about the max size of a spoiler needed to get the job done instead of those stupid looking monstrous POS you 3rd-party manufacturers keeping putting out for the "Z" that add about 15+ pounds to the car, cause a ton of parastic drag and look absolutely rediculous. Why don't you 3rd-party manufacturing so-called engineers take a lesson from old man Shelby a true racing legend (instead of you rice-paddy design wannabees) as Shelby has been there and been doing it for the last 45 years....

I think the price out of Shelby's garage will be around $47K. If it goes to 60K or more it will be because of the dealers tacking on their $20K surcharge like they did with the Shelby GT500. And that has nothing to do with Shelby or Ford.

2011 Shelby GT350: One Pudgy New Mustang - shelby gt350 - Jalopnik

At $33,995 for the upgrade, the GT350
Base price of a GT is 30k, add on the upgrade and you are at 60k.

why does it have a hood scoop? yet nothing really using it? i would expect for 60k to at least get some function, not the 'well its for cooling down the blower'

That was the only thing I thought Ford got wrong with the design of the 2010 Mustang. It looks like some dumb design engineer said to himself...."Well it's a new model year so I guess I have to change something for the sake of changing something". That is sheer stupidity....

Well, if I were getting this upgrade I would choose to do it myself, go to Shelby and have them do it.

Well if it is letting air into the bay though that isn't "functional" in the scoop technical sense it is letting in more cooler air.

As for real scoop functionality (i.e. RAM-air) that died when fuel-injection came about in 1986(?). Since there no longer is a traditional carburator to direct the scoop air charge directly into the carburator there is no reason to have a traditionally functional RAM air scoop. But there is every reason to make available more cooler air into the bay which a "hole" scoop design would provide.

The one picture does seem to show that the scoop is open as it appears looking through the scoop opening that the blower pulley can be seen positioned offset to the right.

Yeap, the lights are still way too high, and everything is too round.

It may not be functional in air flow in, but the hood design it looks like is to be style more than function, but also the engine might be sitting up a bit hence the bulge in the hood.

Seriously...I heard a woman was responsible for that 2010 backend design. Just like the woman that fouled up the 1995-1998 design with the 3 horizontal rear-light slats and goofy looking front-end that had absolutely no tie-back resemblence to the 60's and very early 70's Mustangs.
