I had a Shelby GT (not the GT350 or GT500) that could hand a 370Z's azz on a platter on a slalom course. And with a driver who knows what he is doing on a straight-line, either car could win on any given run. And since I owned both cars at one time (Shelby GT 47000 miles, 370Z 9600 miles) I should know as I drove them alot more miles than a weekend warrior car magazine editor. Granted the Shelby GT isn't stock from a suspension standpoint but just about everything else is compared to a Ford production Mustang. So again I don't know what you are reading when referring to when you say "The 'stang will never out handle the Z". I had one that did. |

Its the weight difference between the cars that accounts of most of the miniscule differences identified in the comparisons....stock Mustangs weigh nearly 300 to 350 lbs more than a 370Z. |

Meh, your best bet will always be to buy a stock GT and go from there. The Steeda/Roush/Saleen/Shelby/Etc. cars are always overpriced and the names really don't mean anything.

Looks like every other mustang to me. And for that price, I'd get an M3.

I will defer to your experience with both cars. You are right. I was referring to articles in magazines not actual experience. In most of those, the Z comes out best in the handling department but even then, it is a close call. I have driven the Z and current mustang but would like to play with the new 5.0 when they come out. I too, know folks who track their mustangs and they say that a whole bunch can be done even with the live rear end. Most say the same thing which is a mustang can be made to handle very well. All in all, I think the competiton is good both for the Z and the mustang. Being old, I remember my '66 mustang fondly but a 2011 with the 5.0 at safe low boost to about 500 hp for around 40 grand is not a bad thought.....

I like this Mustang. I've never been slightly interested in the Mustang..except the Roushe, of course. But I'm really diggin the center exhaust. What everyone needs to remember is times are changing..as will the cars. And thats actually not a bad look considering the flow of the rear bumper. I'm still all Z tho

No thanks, love the concept, hate the result.
Too much money, by far. Ugly rear end all together, especially after the model change. Are those reverse lights randomly in the bumper? That lip spoiler looks pointless. WTF with the interior? Those seats actually look uncomfortable. Why do the speakers protrude from the door? The A-Pillar gauge pod? Couldn't do anything in the middle of that plain, flat dash? /rant I do like the front end though, about the front half of the car (on the outside.)
