I was only spoofing the thought of going back to a Mustang. I am quite satisfied with my Z as my fun car...if I were to buy a Shelby GT350 it would be a 24x7 garage queen for most of its life as the GT350 (not the GT500) was the car that really put the Shelby Mustang on the map back in the late 60's.

FTW....What you pointed out is exactly why it is bulged....all the Mustangs having a roots-style blower require having a bulged raised hood.

Go read the article. It states that you buy a Mustang and then deliver it to Shelby afterwards. I'd say a custom Shelby build would be worth every bit of $60K.

In the F550 maranello, the hood, actually has ducting from the hood scoop to the two little circles there next to the intake boxes, to feed cold air directly to the air boxes.

Why cant something like this be done, and then get some functionality..

I know why Ford put a scoop, as their original Shelby 350's had one.

A woman designed the latest BMW Z4, and did one helluva job especially considering the previous model (male-designed) was hideous.

Agreed. If I bought the new Shelby GT350 it would go under a glass dome in my living room. Divorce would certainly follow, lol.

The entire hood (and scoop) is from Shelby not Ford. There are some 3rd-party hood and intake combo kits available for the various models of Mustang from 1996 to the present. Its cheaper for Ford to make the cars without them and let the 3rd-party manufactureres corner the niche.

Must be the car model that either hits her design g-spot or not! I guess that draws into question how much "muscle" a Mustang really has...

Since 2006 the mustang has been all about retro...going back to the same design cues of the old classics. And if you notice the pic of the new 350 next to the old 350, the old 350 has a hood scoop which was probably functional back then. So dont flame! If you have no interest in owning a muscle car then keep your opinion to yourself and dont bash the car. In my opinion, it is a very classy throwback to the original, my dad loves the look of it and is thinking of getting one (yet he thinks all jap cars are ugly) Your either a tuner, or a muscle guy, or a lil bit of both. If your a tuner then dont post useless threads on here bashing the mustang. Because you know damn right that if nissan offered a 30k package for the z that included a very well designed widebody kit, with custom interior, a twin turbo charger, fast intetions exhaust, etc. you would want it SO bad. Look at the nismo 8k more for a body kit, red stiching, $300 sway bars, and a tune that boosts it up 18 CRANK hp, oh yea and red paint on the engine cover.

Come on guys!! Lets be cylinder blind and appreciate the entire auto enthusiast community!!

Who was flaming anything???????? And no one was bashing the Mustang. People were just discussing the functionality points of scoops. I am a Mustang officianado having owned 7 Mustangs since 1969. If I thought anyone was flaming a Mustang I would have certainly detected it. And there is no such flaming happening, dude......Gessusss!!!

I’m with you Reaper! I love the GT350 for what it is! If I had Jay Leno money, I would be the first one in line, in front of Jay Leno!!!

Default The interesting car might be the basic 2011 Mustang GT

For around 30 grand you will get the new 5.0 Coyote engine which is said to have around 412 hp with around 390 TQ. If they keep the weight down and tweek the suspension as they say then it could be a bargain. Granted the Z has handled the Mustang in all tests I have seen but give the Mustang another 100 hp and it could be interesting. The 'stang will never out handle the Z but with the additional 100 hp and a motor that is easy and cheap to mod might make things more interesting...Like the Mustang or not, the competition of more hp might find its way into the Z.

Yeah the front end looks sweet. The back end with the black is fugly. Maybe paint the black white to see what it would look like? The black is just not working for me either.
