Selling the Car, but Bad Paint
Hello everyone, I've decided it's time to sell my 370Z while I wait and see how the 400Z turns out in terms of pricing.
It's a 2009 Sport Touring M/T that has 86,000 miles and some hellacious paint problems. Other than the paint it's in pretty good shape. The interior is nice and only has minor wear, and the car is mechanically very sound and still a blast to drive. I just put new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on it, and had it detailed inside and out. Trying to decide on the asking price, but considering the paint issues, I'm not sure what a fair/achievable price is. What do you all think? Is it worth seeing what a body shop can do with the paint before I try to sell it? Thanks! |

A professional cut and polish on the paint would probably work wonders for the car. On top of that, get those headlights de-hazed.
|
Unfortunately that's after a professional wash, wax, and polish. All of those little gray marks on the hood are not just clearcoat-level scratches... they're down to the paint, and in some cases, through the paint.
The headlights are better than they were, but I'll look into trying to get them de-hazed further. Thanks! |
Since this is just a terribly poorly veiled attempt of advertising your car for sale, I'll offer you $1,000 if you pay my flight from Pittsburgh to Clemente, CA.
Seriously, anyone asking the www for an estimated value is just b/s. Everyone knows you can post it with "obo" and accept or refuse whatever offers roll in. |
Roughly subtract roughly 500-800 for each panel that needs to be repainted off the good condition price.

I figured I'd ask the community of people who own the car in question and have collective experience buying/selling these cars to help give me an idea of what a fair price is, considering the cosmetic damage. Thanks for the input, I guess. |

Thanks, ended up selling it for $15,000. I actually got like 50 messages within the first 12 hours.
I'm bummed about selling it, but I could use the money for other things and the timing made sense for several reasons. Sad to see her go, but looking forward to my next Z! |

Good Luck..... If you can afford a 400Z when they come out it should be a great deal for a lot of punch.... :happydance: |
