What the consensus “best” fluid to use for a clutch flush? I saw tons of threads on this but can’t find anything with a search. Was it Royal purple? More importantly, what was the rating?
I’ve got 31,000 on the clock and I’m worried... tick Tock...

Clutch flush. Castrol SRF, Motul 660, Motul 600. Best to better.

Yup. You should be changing it every year if it is a fun car. Every six months if it is a daily driver.
Motul RBF 600 is what you should be using and is the 2nd best. The best is technically Castrol SRF. But it is so expensive, that you will probably end up replacing less frequently. RBF 600 replaced every year max is better than Castrol SRF that is so expensive you delay changing on time. |

Don't get 660. It is meant for track, to be changed out after every track day, not street use. It has a worse wet boiling temperature which is more important for street use.
One bottle of 600 is all you need each time. Don't get the Prestone. Not worth the labour to put it in there. Last edited by viiv; 08-26-2021 at 03:38 PM. |

...........and since you will be under the car. Wrap your clutch line by the exhaust with some insulation. This will help to keep from boiling the fluid.

Just to add my .02. Using Valvoline DOT4 Fluid. No issues with my spirited driving, clutch feel is solid, at WOT. Changed about 4 months ago. Should be noted I have heat insulation as well.
Been waiting for temps to drop a bit to go to the drag strip. That'll be the real test of how well this fluid will hold up to high temps. If I experience any sponge I'll be upgrading to MOTUL

I use Valvoline DOT4 too. I use it not on the Z, but also on my other cars. The Z06 has the same type of clutch hydraulic as the Z, but the fluid in the Z06 turns dark much sooner in several hundred miles. The fluid in the reservoir is changed using a syringe. I need to do this with the Z as well.
