I've never really felt that the 370z was "fast" to me. I love the car because of the looks and it was capable through corners though. Some of the most fun i've had in a car was when I borrowed my buddy's Lotus and went through Smoky Mountains. The car was meh in a straight line but would pretty much murder anything on the twisties.

Being that there's not a lot of twisties in MI and I'm not willing to commit to track days with my car, I've decided to make it fast with turbos and a v8. ... not like doing that is any better than track days. I'm delusional that it will be reliable when im done too.

I'm just gonna stop while I'm ahead.

I was thinking of going the route of turbo'ing the car in the future - but with the new Z coming out - it is making me reconsider it. But...with the cost of new vehicles in general and the possible markups that will appear when the Z comes out makes me think - just enjoy the FBO Z and wait several years to see how the used market is for the new Z. I live in TX - there is a lot of hwy cruising and not a lot of twisties and I don't look to track my vehicles (maybe that is something I should consider).

I'd rather be a fast driver than have a fast car. I can't stand people at track days who have huge egos in their fast (and expensive) cars, but they are convinced I am boosted because I was riding their mirrors the whole lap...on the outside of every corner.

That doesn't answer the question, so I guess it depends on your opinion on fast. I personally would like to have a crack at a 911 GT3 on a track just to see what i can do with it, but I'm fine with my Z for the time being. If anything, I'd ask for less weight, which is why I'm interested in the new 86. I feel like 330whp and just under 3000 lbs is a good mix for fun. If I were to look at something more powerful, a C7 Corvette Grand Sport is about the limit of what I would want.

Quick enough for the street, but not fast enough for the drag strip.

Had a chance to drive a built trackday Viper with 800 HP and a sequential gearbox on the track. 2 things with it. Either you're going to die behind the wheel, or do the fastest times you ever did.

C7 Grandsport is a great handling car with just enough power.

I prefer to have a fast car that I can decide to driver however I want. I like a choice. Depending on how the mood strikes me is to how I drive.

At around 10 lbs/hp, the 370Z at the track is an underdog by modern standards.
Most people at the track will not consider it fast on straights.

Cornering, braking, corner exit, are all determined by setup, tires, and driver ability, but simply put, the car N/A will lose ground on straights to the majority of the cars that attend and run at higher run groups.

In time attack, it's probably around average, since fewer people take their supercars to those, and more people take the roadsters and affordable sports cars.

In autocross, yeah....Z's further up there and now classed with muscle cars in F class.

I believe the Z is quick not fast as this car isn't intended to be a straight line monster anyway.

I would prefer a little more top end power even though I'll never see 140 MPH.

I'm contemplating about ordering a new Mustang GT with the GT performance pack. I'm really wanting a trunk and back seats to throw stuff in again. I know the Mustang probably won't be as fun in the twisties as the Z but I'm sure a few mods can help with the handling.
