It's like others have said - by the time the 50th was released - it was already long in the tooth as far as a car model - heck we had the 40th AND the 50th anniversary being the model with only cosmetic updates. The 40th I always thought that color was incredible - the purplish hue that it added along with the red seats/accents - just beautiful. Like someone has already said - it would be awesome to take the 50th anniversary versions and add the updated motor with this body style - I think that would have restarted heavy interest in the Z again - and in particular the 50th anniversary version.

Because there was literally nothing to like about the 50th. I'm a lifelong Z owner starting from 1972 240Z, and it was a complete slap in the face to the heritage. The fact that they even called it the Heritage edition was a further insult.
If you feel differently and love yours that's fine. I respect all Z owners (at least that take care of them and don't trash them with mods); but this is just my opinion and apparently, a few others based on sales and the lack of interest you mentioned. And by the way, I did own a 40th AE that at least was a much better tribute based upon the continued interest they draw. |

Don’t mean to add to this thread but I got curious.
I looked up 50th edition interior pictures. I do really like a couple of things done to the interior. The leather seats look good, that red piping and dark red inserts. Door cards look awesome. Would love to get these pieces fitted to mine.

This has come up before and I'm pretty sure that Nissan did the two slashes, in the opposite direction of Dodge, first. So, it's Dodge that copied Nissan.

If my wife gave me a then newest iPhone 3 in 2009 for our anniversary, I would have celebrated and mentioned it in front of my friends and family. Fast forward to 2019, if my wife gave me another iPhone 3 for our anniversary but this time with a cell phone case with 2 red stripes on it, I would think it is a bad joke.

When I saw the 50th it was very disappointing to even consider that as a "anniversary edition"
In 2010 the 40th was actually unique for that point in time if you bought it new..... -the paint colour amazing and is much different in person and in different light the hue changes dramatically (IMO only better nissan colours are MPII and MPIII) -the red interior at the time was not heard of as a stock option, now BMW and many others have that as stock choices. -here in Canada the 40th came fully load - sport and touring packages for me it was get a 40th or wait a year for the nismo to come to canada...... I knew I was gonna mod it so I didn't wait. Now I basically have a Nismo-40th
