Well mine just became my DD because I sold my F-150 today. I hope it doesn't snow until I find a small truck.

I'd buy the car, then buy a used set of sport or base wheels from someone here thats selling them and put a pair of blizzaks on them for winter driving.

+1.

With snow tires for the winter you're going to be A-OK.

160 mountain miles in the middle of a snowstorm!

I stayed in the tracks of 18 wheelers on the highway. When I finally got to my exit the roads were untraveled, unlit, and had 6" of snow. I stopped for no stop sign. I stopped for no stop light! Had to keep the momentum going!!!

The whole trip was 270 miles. I knew I was driving into a snow storm (I hit snow around 9PM) but was too stubborn to stop and get a hotel room. I finally got home around 2AM. I was shaking... it was a ridiculously hairy drive once I got off the highway. The road to my house at college was very twisty and there's a pretty steep drop off into the river (about 150 feet). I was sideways for a lot of that road.

Don't risk your life and your Z---garage it 'til April then safely enjoy a clean well preserved car. If you can't do that, consider the alternatives like the Audi quattro. Audi is more money though and I think more problem prone and more expensive to maintain and repair than the Japanese Nissan Z.
