Nissan 370Z Forum

Anyone else notice the resale of the 370Z recently went up??

A couple of years ago I traded my 2009 370Z sport touring for a Civic Type R. Now that 2 year old Type R (low mileage because of you know)

A couple of years ago I traded my 2009 370Z sport touring for a Civic Type R. Now that 2 year old Type R (low mileage because of you know) is worth what I paid for it. So, this trend is I think across all platforms makes and models. The 400Z isn't tempting me as much as I thought it would. Other than the new infotainment the cabin is almost the same, and after so many years in a Z I really like the change the Type R provided.

The CTR is on the short list along with the Supra. As it stands right now while I am really excited about the new Z - I know that I would want to wait a year or 2 or more to see how the reviews are, get to see one in person, actually test drive a used one to see how it compares to the current 370. Right now though I keep telling myself while the CTR might be a better car value wise - and the Supra will definitely be faster than my FBO NA Z - it's nice not to have a car payment and I want to know/experience that for a few years as hard as it is for me to NOT trade in my current ride for a new CTR (if I could find MSRP) or a new Supra.
But...the CTR seems to be what everyone hoped and more - I know I want one haha

Most people note that the 370Z and the Supra are unique cars on the road. The CTR just looks like a sporty Civic. It is what it is.
I have owned many Honda cars and I like them but ......It's just not the same.

Granted beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I get what you mean. My friend keeps telling me that even though the CTR is a 'better/faster' car - the Z will be a car that will get 2nd looks(especially after they stop making them and you keep it looking 'clean') and that it started off as a sports car from day one vs the CTR is a Honda Civic with some really cool go-fast parts. I personally really dig the CTR looks and the practicality along with it being a better performer out of the box - I come from being a hatchback fan so I guess that is a huge part of it haha but I get what you mean.

Right now - I'm trying to find some small mods to make me happier with the car - for instance the RJM Pedal - I don't mind the current clutch pedal - been driving Infiniti/Nissans that are manual for many years - but to hear SO MANY PEOPLE talk about how it makes such a difference - makes me consider it bc my 1st to 2nd shifting can be a little 'rough' haha

Wonder what would happen if I put my Z on the market. 50k miles

Found out I'm 1 out of only 5 Z's in the world built in 2013 with these specs:

2013 Gun Metallic/ Touring / Sport / 6MT/ No Nav / Persimmon Interior

LOL. the reason I ask is when it comes time for the old farts to sell his prize corvette, they always have a one of one Corvette because they ordered such an odd ball spec. It is not even a special low number collector addition either.

Cool man. My Z is still more rare then I thought originally and that's fine by me. I thought there were 1000s or at least 100s in my spec. Cookie cutter ect.

The fact there's only 5 in the world, for my year and I have 1 one them. As a Z fan and the 2nd owner of the car, I find that pretty damn amazing.
I appreciate your opinion though, as clearly you're a veteran here.

That Persimmon Interior, gets me everytime I open the door though.

Sounds like a nice car but it’s worth exactly $0.00 extra for it’s “rarity”. It’s still just an entry level jap sports car. We all happen to be big fans but emotion doesn’t translate into dollars in this case.

That said, it is a great time to sell a car, but a terrible time to buy one.

Received a letter from my local Nissan dealer yesterday and a voicemail today wanting my Z as a trade or to buy it outright at “full market value”

I am not sure how it's like in the USA, but in Canada a 370Z is as rare as a Porsche. Actually scratch that, I see Porsches way more often. Here, I see a 370Z as often as I see a Lambo.

I can attest to that fact. In Canada, 370z’s are rare. It is one of the main reasons I bought one. In the 5 years I’ve owned my Nismo, I’ve only seen another one maybe twice.

I like the current version's looks better than the Z Proto. However, if the new Z has a price that is within +/- $2K of a used one, I would consider a trade. At least for some of us the price of the new model may be more relevant than the used car prices.
I do not want to sell mine but trading up to a new one does depend on the net price difference. That said, I do have two to choose from if I wanted to trade up, so I would still keep one from the current generation.
