What is this your third different post about this alleged issue? Why is it that replacement engines are having the same oil consumption problem? I also note that you were complaining about your car going into limp mode long before the oil consumption issue...gee, you wouldn't be abusing the engine during break-in, now, would you?
I smell fish.

Let me start by saying that I'm 52 years old and I no longer drive like I did when I was 18. I have NEVER had a problem of this magnitude with any vehicle that I've owned. It is clearly an unfortunate set of circumstances. I know mine is not an isolated case. You dont by chance work for Nissan or have a family member that does?

I say go for the 3rd attempt for a new engine and if that fails...you apply for the lemon law. Not sure about your state...but if the dealership doesn't get the problem fixed after the 3rd attempt..you can file a claim. But this only will work if the car is inoperable or too dangerous to be on the road. Good luck with everything!

Engines are not defective "parts" though. If you're burning oil, there's got to be something in particular that's causing it. Replacing entire engines is a kind of scorched earth approach to finding what's wrong. If it happens a third time, I'd have to agree with some others here who have said that perhaps the malfunctioning part is in the driver's seat.

The service manager at my dealership has been very cooperative. He has said that the right thing to do is for Nissan to provide me with a new car. He has stated that the replacement blocks that are sitting in inventory could be just as problematic as the two I've already had. Early production runs are suspect and there is no way of identifying a good or bad block. I prefer NOT to play Russian Roulette with this problem. If I choose to sell or trade this car in two years it WILL NOT be worth what what a problem free vehicle will. Remember my dealer reports to Carmax. Those who have responded constructively to this thread THANK YOU.

if i were you, i would consult a legal advice NOW and start the lemon claim. Consultation is free and the law firm gets paid via Nissan, so no cost on your end - practically nothing to lose. Nissan buys your car at the suggested retail price. so pay it off and buy a new one - hopefully a new Z without such problems. downside is it takes a couple of months........so start early.....

Nobody gets 3 engines in a row with problems like this. You are either telling a tall tale or you are not breaking in the engine properly. My BS meter just exploded.
