Japan Announces 2035 ICE Ban - Long live the Z
10 or 20 years ago, I would be looking to see whats newer and better to replace my existing Z with eventually.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/japan-t...ef-11608887640 Now, a new reality is dawning, where if you are serious about ICE sports cars, you will have to hoard them. You won't be trading in your 370Z for a 400Z because a 400Z alone will not last you for the rest of your life. I think around 2035, its looking there will be enough bans that it won't make producing these cars worthwhile for the few places that don't have a ban. I find it highly probable that a Biden administration would announce an ICE ban by 2040, effectively killing the global sports car market. Instead, you need to start thinking now about what sports cars to buy in the next decade unless you will want to start paying inflated used pricing on out of production collectibles. You will need to hold on to both your 370Z AND purchase a 400Z in order to hoard enough ICE sports cars to last you for the rest of your life. My personal list of ICE sports cars to acquire (brand new) before 2035 end of production: 2020 370Z (acquired) 20xx 400Z 20xx C8 Corvette This should be good to keep me happy till I die. |
:shakes head: At some point the ruling elites will out law gasoline or make it very expensive / scarce, the ICE autos will become dust collectors / lawn ornaments.
I also see society shunning people with a ICE like they have the plague and refuse to let you in their parking lot or through their neighborhood :shakes head: I can see it now, a sign at the entrance of a sub : NO ICE PERMITTED |

I don't know if Americans got it, but up here in Canada Lexus had a commercial a few years ago with the ominous ending line "enjoy driving while you still can". ICE ban and self-driving will ultimately culminate - if some have their way - in no human driving. Ah....the "utopian" vision....just get in your car, tell is where you want to go - and if permissible - it takes you there, all while central command logs and monitors every second of it.

I don't think its the end of the sports car. There are plenty, fast, electric cars.

I believe phased out is correct. After you die all of your possessions will become state property and not be passed on to your beneficiaries and a couple of generations later, total state control |

I am not about to disagree with that, but saying that it is the end of the sports car is too extreme. They are just going to be different and yes soulsless, but still fun to drive. |

I still have approx 50-60 years based on average male life expectancy. I need to make bank the next decade to hoard up at least three gasoline sports cars to last me till I die. |
