No rear speakers!

Bought my 2010 base model last friday and while adjusting the speakers from front to rear nothing but silence from the left rear and right rear so made an appt. to fix and when they removed the rear panel, the wires are there, the grill holes are there but no speakers. The base model comes with 4 speakers but they consider the component speakers in the front dash and front door panels to be 4 speakers. They can't explain why the fader then doesn't seperate the dash speaker from the door panel speaker but the simple answer is those two speakers work as a unit and together they supply the high, midrange and low frequencys and they're trying to save money ($108)by skimping on the rear speakers. They will install a pair of rear speakers for $360 parts and labor and I'll probably do it as rear speakers make a huge difference but I'm asking everyone who test drives a 370 even if your getting a nismo or touring to test a base model and when the salesmans sitting there ask him to fade to the rear speakers then let me know how he explains the silence from the back. STILL LOVE THE CAR just hate that they had to spoil a great experience for a lousy $108.

I'm with you....

I know the Nismo is supposed to be more of their "track version" but no option for Nav, no bluetooth and no Bose, Seriously?

I nearly didnt by the car because of the bluetooth as I really need it but I loved the car and knew that the aftermarket setups were pretty damn good anyway.

I agree though, its pretty silly.

Had the Bose on my 04 Touring Roadster, biggest pile of crap ever.

they pretty much have nothing but they are fun to drive :)

:bowrofl: Sorry... Wow!

Isn't this by design? But I was also shocked to find this out too. So is your dealer going to put some in for free?!

I posted about this right after I bought my base 370 Z last month. Many responses to my post indicated that with the way the Z is set up, no rear speakers are needed and could actually be counterproductive. See if you can find the thread, as many of the people who posted were very knowledgeable about audio. Frankly, I'm satisfied with set up absent the rear speakers. The cabin is small enough that the fronts create plenty of sound for me. But everyone's different and your reaction was my initial reaction, as well.

:iagree:...You'd be much better off to just upgrade the fronts....

Besides, you don't want them putting the Nissan rears in (with a base radio) as they are designed for the Bose system, have a different Ohm rating, and are generally junk by most accounts.

antman22 01-21-2010 02:23 PM

The cabin is pretty small, I would imagine that if you added rear speakers, there's potential for muddle sound because the speakers are too close together. I currently rock the stock stereo system, but I think I will be upgrading to a doubledin unit that has nav and upgrading the speakers soon.

If you bought a base model why would you be surprised with no rear speakers? Not long ago base model vehicles wouldn't even include a stereo. Didn't you test drive the vehicle and comb it over prior to purchasing?

If you bought the Nismo, I feel for you... They should have made all options available to the Nismo IMO, but as I've said before I don't think they felt justified to say our car starts at 30k but if you want fully loaded and the nismo package it's 50k.

Just my opinion...
