I was intrigued/surprised too and “My Fair Lady” is currently a remarkable broadway play and has a lot of history behind it that not a lot of people know about.

Wow, everyone here is really uptight and takes themselves too seriously. My post was tongue in cheek. I am well aware that the name originated with the Broadway play, where it was first used with the Fairlady 1500 which preceded the Fairlady Z.

This is like when a comedian does a poorly conceived joke with bad delivery, gets boo'd off stage, then the comedian tells everybody "Y'all are too uptight to understand my joke!!!!"

I thought it was common practice in Japanese culture to give esoteric names, occult or whatever you wanted to call it.

Skyline, godzilla....etc etc. Godzilla being more of a street name given formerly after racing dominance.
