It's hard to tell if this car appreciates down the road. The upcoming Z sheds light on a strong possibility this isn't a "last of it's kind" thing yet.

So make it what you want. That becomes the appeal with this car. Less electrical fuss compared to newer and newer cars. If you look through the forum thoroughly, there's mods that are "textbook" at this point.

However, being 2-year ownership, maybe you'll have the mindset of wanting something else altogether. So I guess yeah, near-stock and a few innocent add-ons may be the way to go; but to get your money's worth, make sure it's nothing in the vein of barn shed DIY work.

The 2020 50th Anniversary Edition 370Z is truly a remarkable looking vehicle to own. I have always enjoyed the two tone look on the Z! It’s your Z do as you like with but changing the exterior look is your call. If you plan on keeping your Z only two years or something like that I wouldn’t do much to it in terms of modifying. Keep your stock Genuine Nissan parts to return it back to stock form or near stock. You will not see much back from your mods unless you can find a Z enthusiast how can actually appreciate the 370Z and mods. When I sold my last Z I wish I would have sold it private owner to get more value for it! I spoke to a Nissan rep at SEMA last year regarding the new 2020 50th Anniversary Edition Nissan 370Z and he told me it is a future collector car how knows when as I was interested in them but I will be waiting to see what Nissan unveils with the 400Z? Either way the Anniversary and Edition Z cars are a part of the Z history and that can’t be changed! Congratulations and I hope you enjoy your Z our cars like to be driven. A lot of the Z enthusiasts are not too happy with the performance of the new 2020 370Z as it has not changed much really basically cosmetic only. Hopefully the new 400Z has improvements. As a Z owner I’m happy that Nissan is still building and selling our cars.

I appreciate everyone opinions
When I said I will only have the car for 2 years, it’s not that I don’t love my car, it’s just that I’ll have less mileage and will have much better resale value. My 4-5 year plan is to be in a new GTR (assuming Nissan isn’t dead by then)

I’m just gonna stick to my basic mods that I previously mentioned minus the spoiler.

Like a lot of people have said - since this platform has been around for a long time - I find it hard to believe that the 50th would become a collectors item more than lets say the 40th (which has the best color from factory - my opinion) and red seats from factory to begin with. Also if there were to be a collectors edition - I would lean toward either the 40th or the last year of the ‘numbered’ Nismo editions.

If adding a spoiler is something you want but don’t want to drill holes - an option that you might want to check out is seeing if you can’t find a wrecked/part out car that someone is selling and see if you can’t grab the hatch hood from and then look to replace out your current hatch - this way when you decide to go back to stock - you have the original part. Personally - I would say - enjoy it, mod it to your heart’s content bc in the end, it’s just a car and I seriously doubt it will jump up in value if you only plan on keeping it for a few years. Good luck with whatever you decide....and....POST SOME PICS of the NEW Z

Mod the car to your heart's desire and forget everything else

If you bought this car to minimize your financial loss, you chose the wrong car.

I’ve been struggling with the thought of adding a rear spoiler but would like yalls opinions on if it’s a bad idea or not. I probably won’t have the car for more than 2 years and if it becomes a collectors edition, I don’t want to ruin the value of it by adding a spoiler it didn’t come with. I already have plans on changing out the exhaust, HFCs, cold air intake and adding window tint but I will be keeping all the original parts if/when I trade in. What do you guys think? Adding a spoiler or no?
1. You bought the car because YOU like it, and not to impress others, therefore, do what YOU want with it.
2. IMO, the Z looks best with a tasteful spoiler, such as OEM, vs no spoiler.
3. If you are worried about value, any aftermarket/non-OEM add-ons, both cosmetic and esp. performance, will decrease the value of the car.
4. You've got a long way to go IF the 50th edition should become a collector's item. My bet would be the 45th edition has a higher chance of becoming a collector's item than the 50th, but that's just IMO.

I hear people say all the time that a vehicle is an "investment". IMO, a vehicle is an expense, not an investment. Yes, there are certain vehicles in which they are gaining value, however, consider the costs associated with maintenance.

IMO, there is more than one kind of 'investment'. Living a miserly life with more 0s in your bank account is a life not worth living. A 370z is an investment in your pleasure (you only live once), and for the price, it's a damn good one.
