You have every right to be upset and bitter toward Nissan - I think if any of us would be in your situation - we would all be upset and feeling like you do. My advice (and I’m sure you have or will be doing this) is to go ahead and trade it in - look at Carvana in particular - no muss, no fuss; this might be a silver lining. Since we are in a pandemic and the 2020 have all been experiencing shortages (or so I hear), the cost of the used car is going up - and it seems like a lot of places to have inventory or paying more than they would normally do. I actually saw that Carvana is offering me about $500-700 more than what CarMax offered me about a year ago - and that is with having miles increase by 10k. If nothing else - it’s worth a look and if you were ever looking to trade-in a vehicle - this is the time. Good luck and wish you had better luck.

My experience with the dealerships:
The one in Oregon I went to, I'm not going to mention the name, but they were in Beaverton... nice service advisors who have to take the blame for everything, but I was less than thrilled when the rubber meets the road there. They seem to have fairly high turnover, and that's probably how they botched changing the transmission fluid on my Z? No Idea, but it was FINE til they touched it. Overall that dealership simply didn't care. It took them 6 weeks to replace a transmission, and claimed it was "lost" at one point during shipping. I believe they just sent my old transmission somewhere to be "remanufactured" but who knows. Either way I'm glad I wasn't out of pocket $6800 , and now will listen to you guys and get a manual Z next time Since moving to AZ.. I've been THRILLED with East Valley Nissan. They really go above and beyond, so it's renewed my faith in atleast Nissan dealerships, but I am a realist and understand that Nissan has problems to fix, namely their moronic commitment to the CVT transmissions, and love affair with subprime financing to push the Altima which evidently has a crazy amount of depreciation, so kind of a perverse money maker. Excited to see what the next Z will look like, but going back to OP: As many say, I believe buying a 3rd year from a new generation is likely the best move. |

When I have no other option but to take the Z to a shop: A) I don't go to a stealership; B) I tell them if I can't keep eyes on the Z while they're working on it, I'll take my car and my $$$ elsewhere. So I end up doing all the maintenance myself. I get that's not for everyone. But don't take your car to a place what does substandard service (aka all stealerships) and then b*tch about their substandard service. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |

I just had mine done via that recall. My Z has 13.5 k miles on it , garaged kept only issues I have had is the vapor canister going out at 12 k miles and after 6.5 years the dash started to show signs of the stickiness and the same common fracture lines. funny its was just out of extended warranty. I rarely want to park it in the sun to avoid any further dash issues. At about 2K ish to replace I am considering just selling mine. I am going to try to get a second opinion on the dash at a custom interior place but it just may be a long shot.

I'm 55 and in my driving life I've had many different cars from Chevy, Ford, Toyota, Honda and Datsun. In 2018 I purchased a new Nismo Z. Besides the 1984 Toyota Celica I had in High School that ran forever, this Nismo Z is the best car I've owned. Granted I have only 15k miles on it, but I have not had one issue with paint, mechanical or otherwise. In fact, I am impressed with the overall quality of it. Before the Z, I had a new Camaro SS and I can tell you the quality of materials in the Z are better than the Camaro. As far as your bad experience, in which I feel for you, dealerships of all brands are independently owned and operated and there are a lot of DB's working in them. Besides, there is always more to a story than what one states.

I'm sorry about the issues you've had. Doesn't sound like you've had the CSC issue, yet. That's a whole separate crap show. I still can't believe Nissan is able to stall that lawsuit because it's the only defect/potential recall that might actually get someone killed. I almost died because of it on the second day of owning my Z a couple months ago.
