De-Badging Your 370Z

Has any of you de-badged your 2010 370Z. Do you have any pics?

Spartan 1771 06-14-2020 11:07 AM

The front of my Z is debadged. Unfortunately I had an accident and had to replace the front end a few weeks after i purchased the car back in 2009. The shop did a good job filling in the logo area, but over time the body filler settled and now you can see the outline from the right angle. For pics, log in to the forum from a computer and look through my albums. I'm on my phone now and can't post any of them.

Here is the only pic I have on my phone. It was taken right after the work was done. I love the front end without the badge, but wish the outline didn't reappear over time. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...521171795b.jpg

I see after a search that the Nissan emblem is recessed. That's too bad. So I'm thinking of getting the Z emblem replacement. They have them on eBay. I'm just not sure which one to get to fit in the recessed area.

cooltoy 06-14-2020 11:29 AM

I believe removing the z beige is called shaving. The OP never mentioned shaving. The only badge that can be easily de-badged is the 370Z badge. If OP meant shaving, then he needs to clarify his request.

Spartan 1771 06-14-2020 11:32 AM

So then I'm wrong on my terms as well. I thought he meant removing the Nissan logos.

In all my years on car forums I've never heard of shaving. Proving you learn something new every day.

Yes, whenever a recess needs to be filled and repainted, that is the term used. Shaved door handles for example.

Make sense. Thanks for the info.

No shaving for me. I'll just remove the 370z badge and replace the Nissan badge with this. It should look good on my grey Z.

Thanks, cooltoy.

Ok, so my mistake here. Sorry to cause all the confusion.

Been thinking maybe the black emblem would look better than the satin silver on this. What do you think?

cooltoy 06-14-2020 12:16 PM

You are welcome.

Everyone has different tastes, so you will get 1000 different opinions when you ask about cosmetic mods. I for example like a bit of chrome and do not like black rims. But there many who will disagree with me. Bottom line is, it’s your car and you should do what you feel is best for you.

cooltoy 06-14-2020 12:39 PM

Not a 370, but it might give you an idea of the look.

I've done one of the black "Z" logos before and and after a few years it started....I'm not sure how to describe it, peel? Bought it from theZStore iirc.

I imagine if it wasn't an outdoors car it'd hold up better.

I think I'm going to go with the satin silver.

I read through a bit of the other emblem removal thread, and I didn't see anyone in that thread nor this thread mention anything about disrespecting Nissan as a manufacturer. Anyone feel this way besides me?

cooltoy 06-15-2020 10:02 AM

No.

Peeling just tells you it was poorly prepped and/or painted. I repainted my EVO-R Z badges when I got them because I had heard of issues with peeling; that and I know most EVO-R products are garbage. I sanded them down and then put down an adhesive coat, a few color coats and a couple clear coats. I got everything in spray cans from Automotive Touchup. Super easy fix and no issues in 5+ years :twocents:

I'll start by saying that I love my Z...

Fuck Nissan tho!

Check out what they did to the guy who owned the nissan dot com domain when they wanted it. They tried to ruin him and drag him through the court system just to bankrupt the guy so they could take over his domain name :shakes head:

Then go look at the responses of dealers and corporate when the topic of a failed ESCL or CSC comes up. As a consumer, they will tell you to go pound sand :ugh2:

Not to mention the hamburger emblem is fugly as sin :barf: :gtfo2:

Damn... Thanks for enlightening me. That guy didn't deserve what came to him.

If you go to nissan dot com now you're in for a good laugh haha
