First "Road Trip" in my Z
I've had the car about 3 months now and this weekend I surprised my husband with tickets to a CANDLEBOX concert out in Laughlin, NV. Picked him up on one of our jobsites (his employees new about the trip, but he did not!), made him change clothes on the side of the road and off we went. I think its about 380 miles each way. Nice sized suitcase fits in the back, and that I-40 is a nice long, straight road to drive her on :) Hardest part was leaving her with the Valet, but boy I sure received a lot of nice compliments on the car from the valet to the people waiting :) We were looking at a couple homes over in Bullhead City (possible summer vacation home) and even the realtor came out to look at the car. He was surprised when I said it was a Nissan :)
There's a pretty rough section on the long, windy, drive to get to the casinos down by the river, where the pavement is pretty shoddy, and it got a little loud inside the car for a second but there is something about that loud "hum" that I actually really like! I wondered if it would be a comfortable drive for a semi-long trip and was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it really was and plenty of room for two people's things for a nice weekend getaway! :) Still lovin' my Zee :) |
awesome surprise for him and gj getting the coworkers in on it
i've enjoyed the few 300 mile-ish trips i've taken. nothing too crazy long, but just long enough to really enjoy it. now it's time to come up with another excuse for a trip :driving: |
Road trips are great.....if you can carry everything in a couple of roller-board cases for an overnight or two.
If your stay is longer or the distance is farther.... then you might have to buy laundry detergent because you won't be able to fit much in the car. But then lengthy road trips are why I would rent a car and the whole comment is mute. :) Enjoy ! |
I took my first real drive in my new Z on Sunday. Not in the same league as the OP's trip as I was only gone a few hours, but it was the first time since I had the car the weather was nice enough for a good long top down cruise. I spent some time on some twisty country roads near Dripping Springs Tx. Did something pretty dumb too -- crossed a water covered road. It wasn't more than a few inches deep I think, but the water was moving swiftly. Nothing happened, but I thought later about what a stupid thing it was to do.

last year i took it to Branson Zfest, 2800 miles and 5 days later, came to the conclusion that the almost non existant review is completly killed off with 5+ days off clothes, track helmet, cooler full of drinks, toolkit(for the z31's in my club) and some other stuff packed into the trunk and passenger seat. My leg cramped up hard on the way down there(980 some miles in one day) and back, but the ride wasn't bad, the road noise was quitter than my 2-way radio, and i still don't understand while people complain about the ride and noise, they must be comparing it to a 4-door Merc or something. Oh and i LOVE that seat, and it's not even the touring model.

Ya know, I'm 5'10" and I've never really noticed it being too cramped. I do have to drive with the seat all the way back...which has made me wonder how the 6'+ people do it. I fit in the seat alright..lol.and I'm not a skinny minny by any means. (I read a thread on here once about the airbag light staying off if you had a skinny girl in the passenger seat. When I sit in the passenger seat the airbag definitely goes on..sigh. LOL!!)

I'm 6'1 and I fit pretty comfortably. I'm a thin guy though, so the extra bolstering in the seats is definitely welcomed :)
I haven't had any issues with comfort so far and I have plenty of headroom. I definitely have the seat set all to the back and lowered however. As far as passengers go, my cousin who's 6'4 sat in there, and I would have to say is probably the max you could go. I have yet to take a long distance (i.e. more than 1.5hrs) trip, so its hard to say how my body would take the trip. I've only cruised around for about an hour or so, but in that time, I was still comfy, no cramping or squirming around. maybe i should take a random trip this weekend, hahah. |
I'm 6'2, about 185, and would actually prefer just a little more thigh and side support. On a 3 hour drive I can get a little stiff if my posture sucks; I especially get a sore right shoulder for some reason. I'd say it's just as comfortable as any car I've spent some time in in regards to the seat and driving position. The seat is all the way back most of the time, but I'm used to it.
I did have a buddy that's 6'4 sit in my car once because he's interested in getting one and he fit just fine. He agreed that the head room in the 370 is better than the 350 as I did; thank goodness. |
I just did a 1500 mile road trip and all was good. Oil temp stayed around 205 210 the whole time. seats were pretty comfortable. Crusie did great. My Garmin put me on some really out of the way highways once I was close to el paso so I was able to open her up some. 1 5 0. Car now has 11000 miles so I check my air filters and they had some debris in them so I shook them out and will clean better once Im settled in. All in All she did good.
