Default looking at buying 2010 370Z touring

Hey guys, I am looking at buying my first Z. The car is a 2010 Touring manual trans. The car has 68K on the odometer. Are there any typical issues I should be looking for? I drove the car and it seems to be in good working order.
The asking price is 13K obo I am hoping to get it for 10-11K.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

If it's a manual trans, you want to ensure it shifts smoothly through all the gears. I would recommend driving it and aggressively shifting all the way up to sixth. Ensure the clutch pedal feel is smooth, not sloppy and the pedal doesn't get stuck on the floor. Also ensure there is no grinding at all while shifting.

The transmission synchros are known to go which will cause the grinding. The concentric slave cylinder (csc) is also a weak point and will cause the clutch pedal to not spring back up from the floor. These are common issues.

CSC replacement will cost at least $1000. I would negotiate your price and then tell them to mark off at least that much more if an OEM CSC is currently on the vehicle, regardless of age.

Hope you're well.

As per above, the CSC is a weak point of the car, it will fail (the factory one) and you will need to replace it. Google "Zspeed CMAK" and you will see that the replacement kit costs $489 before taxes if I recall correctly. That is just for the parts, you have to pay a mechanic to install it and it involves dropping the transmission, which is costly as well. I would ask for a slash of $2000 grand from the original price, it's only fair since you will be inheriting this issue if it has not been resolved yet.

Further more, ask when the transmission fluid was last changed, if it has not been changed, you can ask for a $100 reduction in that area as well.

There are other things this car will need, but those are extras, like an oil cooler and upgraded differential bushings, look into those and ask for further price reductions. Honestly though, I would say 9 grand all in, if he or she whines, go up another $500. The max I'd pay is $10,500.

If the MT scares you off, my 2010 Sport/Touring 7AT with coolers, tune, intake and axle back exhaust may be up for sale mid week. 91k miles on it. PM me if interested in more info. etc.

Thanks for the responses guys! I picked it up for 10k the person I bought it from had not had the CSC changed out when he owned it but he bought it used.

I am going to look into having the external unit installed soon.

I am excited about this car! I’ve wanted one since they came out.

that sounds like a great deal.... the Z sure depreciated quite a bit.

For now just some appearance mods like painting the headlights black inside and maybe a front spoiler. Of coarse get the CSC taken care of.

These cars drive great!

I don't keep track of the market price, but this is really low for a car with such low mileage and options (touring/sport and Nav?). The original MSRP was probably $40k.

My guess a similar car would likely go for $16 to $18k in SOCAL, but again, just a guess.

Great buy....
