Heavily modified

Then acquired a Z32 TT which I still have and a 370z Roadster

I purchased my Z brand new back in October of 2009 when I was 36 years old. I've taken a lot of crap over the years from friends and family:
1. "So now that you're getting married, are you gonna get rid of the Z?"
2. "So now that you're buying a house, are you gonna get rid of the Z?"
3. "So now that you're having a baby, are you gonna get rid of the Z?"
4. "So now that your older son is going to college, are you gonna get rid of the Z?"

As if to imply it was just a phase in my life that I really couldn't afford.

Now that I've reached my late 40's people have stopped giving me crap and asking me stupid questions, but I'm sure passer bys look at me and think mid-life crisis. I really couldn't care less though. Its my car, I enjoy it and don't need to explain myself to anyone. Life is too short to worry about what others think especially those who really don't know you.

Just my $0.02

I learned to drive a stick on a 71 240Z and I've wanted one ever since. It took til 2013 to get my 2012, but I've been around the Z for years. Got to drive a RHD one in Japan (Z32), worked on my son's 93 Z32 (engine swap after oil pump failure) and now I'm on my 2nd Z34. I'll be 245 years old this fall...

Soo many variables...
My friends have all said my Z "looks" like me; which at 57 I take as a compliment. Its typically true that you can spot the owner of certain vehicles in a crowd, especially niche vehicles. In the OP case I would wonder if the car fits the owner

I am 33 but got my Z at 31. But seriously, forget what they think! Age is not what it used to be...it is in many aspects simply just a number. People are always going to have an opinion on someone being "too old for" or "too young for" something. It's your life! As long as you aren't harming anyone, then live it exactly how YOU desire. I think the Z is for anyone who has a passion for it. Whether you're that 15 year old teenager saving up and dreaming of one day getting your Z (that was me), or you're an established 75 years young, enjoying the fruits of your labor, you are more than welcome. I think that is what makes our Z community so special; the community so effortlessly bridges generational, social, gender, economic, and racial gaps. It removes all the b.s. that often separates us and allows us to simply relish in our common passion. I've gotten many different responses. I've hand strangers roll their eyes at me. The other day I had a dude literally take out his phone in the parking lot of a grocery store and flash a picture as I walked up to my Z, and then compliment me saying, "Nice car! My brother is into Z's". And I've even had friends question my decision on buying a Z, as their mustangs, bmws, and benzs suck their money into an endless repair pit. So I end this novel simply to say...Just do you man and forget about their b.s.!

The one that cracks me up is the small penis syndrome. One of my other vehicles is a Power Wagon that sits high. I get the small penis thing all the time. Then they shut up once they see how much meat I'm packing when I step out of the truck.

"It is a simple natural phenomena that a river can flow from elevated place to lower level & not vice versa. A wise person in higher level can only pass on the benefits to others at lower level. A person at lower level has no other ways, except to accept his status unconditionally, but because he cannot digest this fact, he starts criticizing a person at higher level."

And Paul Walker, who loved his Jap cars spent a lot of his money trying to help people in Tsunami and earthquake hit areas. What a top guy

'85 300zx around 25, '90 300zx and '06 350z around age 30, got the 370z at 34, and am 37 now. So far no comments on mid life crisis from friends or family.

I just like Z cars and I like the community. Lot of great people here.
