I been following this thread. I'm waiting for it to blow up. I've installed a couple of sets of OBX headers on different vehicles. They have been hit or miss.

I've installed a couple of sets of OBX headers on different vehicles. They have been hit or miss. They either bolt right up, or you have to fight them.

Whether to buy real or fake is at one’s prerogative. But, before anyone righteously argue:
Do understand that there won’t be a fake to buy with if there wasn’t an original one, and the consumers that support the original. Innovations cost lots of time, capital, and risk of losing for nothing. There has to be consumers that reward the innovators. This is not a question of brand loyalty/elitist attitude/quality/performance/blah blah.....this is principle.

Agreed. But for someone with NO experience with them and probably for most NO EXPERIENCE even doing a job like this so best to stay quiet and learn something. Wise man once told me hard to listen when your mouth is open

Yup bc I didn't remember something to the EXACT on a car I owned a decade ago and since have built other cars where my brain retains current info. Again sport thanks for the correction. If you wanna say names and take it back to school yard we can, just put down the keyboard. Everyone is so safe in their internet bubble

Installing lth's on the Z is a PITA. The right side takes me about 45 minutes. The left side about 5 hrs and lots of cussing.

That's true but no where near as bad as a F body. Never do that again in my life. After 3rd set of headers i got it down pretty good. Not like half the time, just half the curse words/alcohol

You ever install headers in a '71 Mach1 with a 429 NASCAR Boss Hemi? You have to pull the engine out to get the headers in place. Then lower the engine almost down. Then bolt the headers up. Finish lowing the engine down.

What??
Disclaimer - I have no idea who obx is. With that said, I would go with a proven product. Go with a knockoff, and you run the risk of poor quality, poor performance or poor fitment and end up spending more time money on a different product all together.

It's not worth trying because of the high risk of crap fitment. Why are you trying to talk him into buying crap?

Go ahead and try them, and good luck with all that, but I never had a concern my Z1 headers wouldn't fit. I bet nobody else on here had the slightest worry their FI headers wouldn't fit. The premium for non-Ebay parts is insurance and peace of mind that your $h!+ will fit.

Lmao I've never had worry of ANY headers I've installed either. Guess once again if you don't have the skills to DIY or skills to overcome obstacles that come up when replacing OEM parts with ANY aftermarket then modding isn't for you. I had no issues with my Kooks LTs on my SRT and also didn't with ebay knockoffs onna buddy's 5.7. So you speak from the wallet and I speak from experience. You pay to HOPE to have no probs and either way don't bother me. I like people being unique and trying things different that others are scared of. What if they fit great and make power? Wouldn't you be happier for a cheaper alternative? No that's right, you're a nut swinger who bashes anyone that dares to be different

Congrats on being lucky enough for your cheap a$$ shìt to fit. A brief search of the interwebs and you will find many ill-fitting OBX products. There are plenty of people on a budget that are happy to have knock-off options. But don't act like that's the better option. It isn't, no matter what your experience with them.
