Replacement Key Fob Wont Program!?

Not sure if the is the proper place for this, but I just tried programming an OEM key fob I got of Amazon. I matched the FCC ID with my existing key (KR55WK49622) but the key would not program. My existing key could be reprogrammed without issue. What else would need to match for this to work properly? All I ever see is matching the FCC ID.

I popped out the circuit board to compare. They both look the same (one is a darker green than the other) and have the same part numbers with differing revisions:
  • Original fob (that works) is A2C53297341-01 made by SIEMENS.
  • New fob (that wont program) is A2C53297341-03 made by CONTINENTAL.

The locksmith pulled up some info for 2009 keys and 2010 keys, but both referenced the same Nissan part number (NIS-285E3-1ET5A). However, the 2009 information doesnt mention the KR55WK49622 FCC ID, but the 2010 info does.

Very confusing.... Any ideas?

I’m almost positive only a dealer can program a key fob.

That sucks if the dealer is the only 1 who can

This place confirmed that they could program this car's fobs and I'm sure they can because they were successful reprogramming my original key. They just could not get it to work with the new one.
Edit: FYI: When you get a replacement programmed, they need all the keys you have because they reprogram all of them with new codes. They don't program the new key to match the existing key(s).

A bit more info: My car was bought used back in 2013. It's a 2009 with a build date of 01/09. The key I got with it had the Nissan logo, not the "Z" logo. I thought all 2009 Z's had the Z logo on the key and that changed in 2010+. Can anyone comment on that? Could it be that the key I got (with the Nissan logo) is also not original and I may be dealing with some kind of mismatch scenario between the PCB in the fob and the FCC ID marking on the shell?

Where did u take it to get the key reprogrammed?
So when u get a second key or buy another key to get it reprogrammed, you have to get the original 1 reprogrammed too.

Do you have a link where on amazon u bought it?

Local locksmith that also has equipment for Nissan OEM fobs.

Correct. Otherwise it will no longer work as it is using the old codes.

https://www.amazon.com/Button-Nissan...5670757&sr=8-2
From seller YourKeylessRemote

I just bought another fob from this place based on the recommendation of the locksmith. They said they have never had any problems with their keys. It was a bit more expensive, but Honey found me coupon code that got me 15% off...

They will also need the other keys to make the physical key, as any additional fobs you order will either just be the shell (no physical key) or a blank key to where it will need to be cut/copied.

The logo changed after 2009, as my key fobs for my '09 Z had the Nissan logo, and my '13 Z fobs have the Z emblem. Also, the logo on the fob is irrelevant as to whether it can be programmed to the Z or not.

Thanks for the clarification.

I realize that, but because I had it backwards (Z logo on cars after 2009), I thought that the key I got with the car was not original and that there may have been some non-standard shenanigans going on that makes my car an ugly duckling. The locksmith I went to was very familiar with this process (with Nissan) and after we pulled the fobs apart, and pulled fob info from their go to sites - he was stumped which didn't give me hope that this would be a simple thing. Hopefully the new fob from the place he recommended (which specifically states it's for a 2009 370Z even though they all say they are compatible with 09-19) works properly.
