50th Anniversary 370Z

So it's a Base plus Sport, delete the front and rear spoiler, add special heated leather seats, six speed or auto and of course the outside paint scheme/badging and only available in white/red and silver/black. List for about $37k. I like it, enough to maybe come back to the Z one last time (currently back in a Mini)!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I won't judge anyone who likes it or buys one, but personally I think it's awful. It displays Nissan's lack of interest in this car and Z enthusiasts in general. If they couldn't design and produce the next gen Z in time for the 50 anniversary, they should have really put a lot of time and effort in to this one. An appearance package, especially one as edgy as this isn't going to cut it for me and a lot of others out there.

Of course it's old and outdated, we all know that, it's been said over and over again. This appearance package won't swamp the showrooms or sell cars like pancakes. This car is on its last breath but even so I think we should appreciate it for what it is and what it isn't. It's the last of the basic raw sports cars that you can drive and not a car drives you. Whatever Nissan does with it next will never be as good and may well not even exist anymore. It's a brand new 11 year old sports car like no other and to some that's enough. Let's just enjoy it while we can.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Z and have no plans at all to ever replace it. It's my garage queen and toy. I really appreciate this car and all it is. I just feel let down by Nissan. They seem to have given up on the Z platform and all of its supporters.

I almost had a Civic Type R in my garage this past weekend... now talk about fugly. I must have been really hung over, food poisoning or something. This looks 1,000 times better... well maybe 101 times better:rofl2:

Should have bought the Type R.

It's just vinyl, It can be removed.

Yes, but that defeats the purpose of this model completely.

I knew someone would say that.

What about the people that have modified their 40th anniversary? Did they defeat the purpose of that model?

What a bout the people that have modified their 35th anniversary? Did they defeat the purpose of that model?

I'm not familiar with the 35th anniversary. I assume that was a 350. Now the 40th came out 1 year after the 370 was introduced and it was still new and fresh back then. The 40th had a unique color, seats and other trim pieces, but it wasn't decal cladded. It was tastefully done and was appropriate for the time. With that being said, I personally would not have modified it much at all if I had one. It was somewhat rare and unique.

As for the 50th, why spend more for decals and then just remove them? But in the end people are free to do what they want with their time, money and property.

If the OP likes and wants this, have at it. Its just not for me.

There's a lot of things I could do with 40k if I wanted a 370Z, and decals aren't one of them. A used car with 10k miles and 100k warranty for 26k... *supercharger whine off in the distance*

Sorry I meant 40th.

Spartan 1771 09-04-2019 10:31 PM

I just looked up the 35th and it actually had a bump in power and other upgrades. That all makes sense to me and is what they should continue to do with these anniversary models.
