For the price (new), I don't think it's exactly a bargain in any category, whether that's performance, luxury, technology, etc. This is evident when compared to some of the current crop of sports cars in a similar price bracket, and dare I say, even compared to a 5 year old mustang.

But that's not the point of sports cars in a lot of ways. If you're buying a Z new, you wanted a Z specifically because it meant something to you. I think the argument for a used 370z is much more reasonable. A couple of known issues that can be fixed, with otherwise good reliability, solid power, good handling, good aftermarket support, and good looks.

Personally, what pushed me over towards the Z was the reliability, with the caveat that the CSC would need to be replaced eventually (which I did) and an oil cooler added for track work (which I did). The other cars are newer and they are faster and if that's all you're looking for, the Z isn't right. All that matters is that it checks the right boxes for the buyer, like it did for you or me. I guess it doesn't check the right ones for some of the reviewers, but oh well, you can't please everyone.
You lost me at Mustang. Mustangs are NOT sports cars. Just sayin’

Sure, mustangs aren't "true blooded" sports cars, but neither are M cars for that matter which started life as hopped up normal cars. Idk, I guess my definition of "sports car" is pretty loose. If it's fast, fun, cool, and handles well, the shoe fits. But to each their own man. Plenty of people hate mustangs because of the mustangy-ness, which I kinda get. It attracts a certain crowd, it's historically not been light, refined, or known to handle well, but IMO, the current crop of Mustangs and Camaros are really making a name for themselves. The power, the grip, the chassis, they are all pretty killer. But, like you, I will continue to enjoy the Z for the time being!

I’m not hating on the mustang. I had a 1990 convertible that I loved for 10 years. It’s just wasn’t a sports car, and still isn’t AFAIC.

Rule number one: Sports Cars have 2 seats.

Rolls of carpet work the best in my experience. I mean, so I've heard.

Oh... and swampy wetlands reclaim 'things' back to nature... ummmm... efficiently.

We have high bridges over a river. Concrete block tied to each leg and over the side. Splash in about 10 seconds. You want about 5ft of slack on the rope. This way the body floats up a little. When a barge tow goes either up or down river. The prop hits the body. Instant fishy food. Ahhhhhhh this is what I heard from some pretty shady mafia type characters around here. We've had some jumpers miss the river and hit the road next to the river. One girl jumped off and just missed 2 guys in a little fishing boat one night. They saved her. Broke her leg when she hit the water.
