I know I’m old and cranky, but I’m tired of these kids telling me what’s good and what’s not. Get off my lawn! Especially when they complain about the exhaust note and the information center... |

When's the last time you seen a bench front seat in a car? I can't remember the last one I've seen.

When reviewers, most, not all, step into the Z they bash it because it doesn't live up to their "standard". They drive Lambo's Ferraris, Paganis etc and so forth. If it doesn't do 0-100kph in les than 4.5 it's a slow car. But then again thats the majority of the market "WHATS YOUR 0-100 TIME BROOOO". Straight lines are for fast cars, curved lines are for fast drivers.
The Z is not a super car or hyper car, we all know that, but for what you pay for it and its class, it's the top in my eyes. Great acceleration (You can get 4.8 to 100), reliable (how many SPORTS cars meet this standard? Not many, and of course reasonably priced. I always get asked what's your 0-100 time blah blah. I tell people look, if you want to go fast and **** on everything from Z's to Mclarens, go buy yourself R1 or another type of litre bike. Once you realize what REAL speed is you'll understand you won't push the car to what is it meant to be pushed at. That brings me to the next point. How many of those folk who own the high end cars actually push them? Straight line gunning doesn't mean ****. Pulling it out on weekends or dragging it to a meet doesn't do the car any favors. If that's your thing, more power to you. But to get the most out of the raging bull, prancing horses, the ghost (Konnegsegg), The Flying French B and Boomerang (Mclaren) you need those cuties on the track. With Z I can get what I want from it on the roads (when I'm in Mexico of course) and on the track. Plus I can daily it. Car reviewers try TOO hard to be witty with their remarks and of course everyone is a critic. My cousin has a S2000, fun car, it's not the fastest, does it make it crap? No. Great in corners and great RPM range. I don't want to pay $300 + for a oil change, or 3 grand in tires, not yet anyways. Plus I', very hands on, I like to touch, that includes my car(s). I don't like cars where you open the hood you start sweating like a Lucifer in church because God forbid you accidentally breathe on something and your car doesn't work. I know, it's not that bad, but I can literally tear apart my Z's engine bay and not worry about the complexities. If I redline my Z i know I don't have much to worry about, the other cars? BRB. . . Check engine light. Plus everytime I drive my Z at night I feel like I'm an Initial D driver. Besides, I like the manual transmission all the clunks and what not. Reviewers can kiss my ***. Everyone has an agenda going on. You want to know someone or something? Go out there and figure them out yourself, in the flesh! Do I like exotic cars? Yeah I do. I have just come to realize that when it comes to speed there are two types of people. Those who want to go crazy fast while looking good and those who don't care how good they look when they are going fast.

I have noticed that many reviewers say that it is old and updated. To me that means that I should look into it because it probably matches my taste in sports cars, since I am old and outdated. The Z is exactly what I was looking for. My decision was based on nostalgia coupled with a bit of more modern engineering (fuel injection, etc.) for reliability.
I liked my first one so much that I bought a second one! One is manual the other AT, just in case I was missing out on something. |

I watch two channels for car reviews, and really their reviews are more live overviews. Straight Pipes and Throttle House. They've both recently had the Z on and were both pretty positive / impressed.

Love the Z to drive, but I have to say, in some aspects I agree w/ some of the reviewers at least. I think at this stage in the lifecycle of the car, I'd expect the price to have dropped somewhat. For the price (new), I don't think it's exactly a bargain in any category, whether that's performance, luxury, technology, etc. This is evident when compared to some of the current crop of sports cars in a similar price bracket, and dare I say, even compared to a 5 year old mustang.
But that's not the point of sports cars in a lot of ways. If you're buying a Z new, you wanted a Z specifically because it meant something to you. I think the argument for a used 370z is much more reasonable. A couple of known issues that can be fixed, with otherwise good reliability, solid power, good handling, good aftermarket support, and good looks. Personally, what pushed me over towards the Z was the reliability, with the caveat that the CSC would need to be replaced eventually (which I did) and an oil cooler added for track work (which I did). The other cars are newer and they are faster and if that's all you're looking for, the Z isn't right. All that matters is that it checks the right boxes for the buyer, like it did for you or me. I guess it doesn't check the right ones for some of the reviewers, but oh well, you can't please everyone. |
