Default 2013 vs 2019 Z...wow

So I'm off at the grocery store today and I see another Z being driven by this guy and his female passenger. He sees me and drives to my spot to ask me about the Z. Seeing that I had time, he parked and said he just got his Z a few days ago and was shocked to see another one in town. He was more shocked to know that mine was a '13 and was almost identical to his except for the rims. He was shocked as well to see the engine compartment with the Injen CAI and the muffle delete which he thought were dealer installed options
I was happy to see another Z like mine and really kids this experience made me happy to have done mods and had bought the Z when I did. He wants to do all the same mods including the Sprint Booster even thou he has an automatic. Hopefully, he will join the Forum since I told him it was a great source of information and you kids are nice folks. Just wanted to share this and one thing I will take out of this exp[erience is that some people buy vehicles without doing any research, and now in this day and age all you have to do is stop watching porn on the computer and take a few minutes to "ask" and you will become "edumacated"

I'm always amazed at how many people blindly or impulse buy a car. We just bought a new Murano as a family vehicle and I spent months determining exactly what I wanted. I've always been that way with all of my car and and other large purchases. In my mind, it just doesn't make sense to do it any other way, but in the end, people are free to make their own choices.

I'm all for people having the freedom to buy what they like, but when they don't put the effort into knowing exactly what they *think* they like, it's just...stupid.

Then they go about saying things loosely from what they heard or literally mere guessing, in hopes it makes them sound like they know what they're talking about. In the end, they're just trying to look the part instead of pay their due diligence of actually living up it.

That's not to say there's supposed to be some rite of passage here, and everyone starts somewhere, but if you go about talking without thinking or researching, expect to hit a wall real hard someday.

Then again, a lot of people BS their way into getting a job.

Don’t bash the 7A/T until you’ve tried them, as they are definitely quicker on the lower end

My intentions were never to bash his auto and all I said is that he wanted a sprint booster and I hope if he does get it, it performs as well as it does in my 6 speed. I would never buy an automatic car because I like to drive a car not just aim it, again no offense.
I guess I never got my point across and that is that the 2 vehicles were built 6 years apart and nothing has changed. Those on the Nissan assembly line probably can put a Z together with their eyes closed. The only thing I noticed is the price that has gone up astronomically and... why?

I went from an auto ‘09 Z to a manual ‘13 Z. Nothing against auto, since they are quicker in terms of gear changes, but I did miss rowing thru the gears and made the switch. The auto tranny in the Z is solid and felt good, but like you, I like to drive the car.

In terms of price, that’s inflation for ya. Cost of living is going up.

Inflation?..but let's say the assembly line made 10 Z's in Dec. but only shipped 1, come Jan they can release the other 9 at a higher price and it's the same vehicle. I bought my Z in 2014. The Z was a leftover 2013 with 8 miles mostly driven in the lot as it was a very snowy year so it didn't sell. The day I picked it up there was this 2014 with 2 miles and was selling for over 2k more..?? It was my lucky day I guess..

Based on this, my guess is this: there are 2 Z’s on the lot, one 2013 and the other 2014 (this is provided both are exactly the same). If they are priced the same, chances are that 2013 Z will sit for a while, thus marking up the 2014 to have the buyer feel like they are getting a deal for the 2013. In the off chance the higher prices 2014 sells over the less expensive 2013, well they just made more money.

Indeed, if I didn't ask I would have thought both were the same year, but when he told me that they could not get any more 2014 Z's unless they sold the '13 I would have bought the blue one for 2k more. So I got my company's employee discount and a few rebates plus the fact that now it was a year old car and my taxes were lower. I was a happy camper, even thou I hate camping. BTW I did a research online to see if either was a demo and the blue one '14 was assigned to the sales manager as a demo...to be taken by him that same day and most probably abused

You really dont need the sprint booster on the auto. Intake and exhaust fixes that. Even silicone hoses drop ins and mid pipe fixes that. Sprint booster would be a waste of cash. Those are 4 swift spec R's or sway bars right there.

The Z34 is approaching Z33 territory which approached S-chassis territory

It got affordable enough for a different generation of buyer with less knowledge and different taste

i hope you and that dude don't spend any money until they spend a few weeks reading stuff
