New Roadster, Spoiler problem, dealer problem
Hey guys,
I recently bought a 2010 370z Roadster with sport pakage. well, heres the situation... when I decided to get a sport pakage was because the dealer said spoiler comes with sport pakage. now that i found out its only for Coupe. not roadster. Its funny how they didnt even know. well, if there was no spoiler, i wouldnt have gotten sport pakage. and bought the car $3000 cheaper. Now, all they are saying is they will install any spoiler i want... doesnt matter if its aftermarket or not. i honestly want my money back for the sport pakage, because if they were little more educated about the new roadster and told me that theres no spoiler whatsoever, then there would be no sport pakage on my car. but if getting me a spoiler is the only way for dealer then, im planning to get the most expensive spoiler and sell'em or whatever. which one would that be??? what do you guys think???? thanks Last edited by Hello; 01-10-2010 at 05:43 PM. |

You mean to tell me that they charge you the same price for the sport package on the roadster as the coupe, but you dont get as many options? Something is wrong there.

Sport package gives you bigger brakes, better wheels and tires, and SRM if you got the manual. I say keep it. If you want a spoiler installed, have them see if the coupe spoiler will fit and install that. If not, just ask them to reimburse you the cost of the spoiler itself which is like 400 bucks or so, then you can put that towards an aftermarket one for the roadster.
Either way, I think the sport package is a worthwhile addition, esp if you have a manual trans. Btw where in VA are you located?

I'm not sure if this is how they do it everywhere, but when I bought my roadster they had to have it brought up from another dealership, but I didn't sign the papers until I took delivery. What I did sign was a note of intent wherein the dealer promises to provide me with the vehicle described in the note and I promised to pay the price agreed upon. I'm guessing that in your case if the vehicle wasn't as described, you could have refused delivery. That said, the sport package didn't add 3k to your purchase price unless you paid MSRP for it. Even without the spoiler it is well worth the money. |

Was it an honest mistake by the salesman telling you it came with a spoiler as part of the sport package? The dealer is trying to make good on the error. Why not take them up on their offer or negotiate an equivalent cost towards something else - free oil changes or whatever.

Yea, I have 7AT.
First I ordered my car, and the dealer told me it will only take a month, i was waiting.... and one day, dealer called me and said they found one exsactly same one at New jersey. and they said that they will pay for the delivery. so I took that one. Complicated story, I did the favor to dealer, by signing the paper before the year ended. on 12/29. and picked up the car 1/2/10. i guess they wanted officially sold the car before the month ended and year ended. and when i got the car, the car was so beautiful and i was busy test driving the car. i guess the roadster looks good without spoiler for me to not notice. anyways, they charge 2800 for roadster, and 3000 for coupe. ( the sport pakage), but my whole point is IF i only knew or DEALER/Salesperson only knew that roadster dont come with spoiler. eventho u get sport pakage. then i wouldve paid less money for me car. Im a female Z owner, I really dont need paddle shifter, wheels? my boyfriend has sponsership over at JLINE wheels... and Brakes? i think with $2800, i could of gotten brembos..no? |

Seriously, I'm not like hating on your but why did you buy sports package just for spoiler look? Sports package gives you better brakes, synchrorev, underbody aero parts, bigger rims and tires, VLSD. And you here are whining about a spoiler that really don't even do that much...besides for looks. I mean I'd be happy with everything already even just with the 2010 370Z. Just my 2 cents that you shouldn't whine about a spoiler.

haha really? like i said... if it was just the spoiler, then sport pakage would not be on my car. i had a budget. and without the sport pakage was pretty much max.
But as u stated.. I just made a decesion, spoiler comes with sport pakage according to what dealer said. and mush MORE. so i was like 'why not...' If they stated correctly to begin with saying that roadster didnt come with spoiler. then there would be no decesion for me to make. no sport pakage pereiod |

where did you get $200 for the spoiler from? when I was debating, sales person told me that the spoiler cost with out installation was $681.14.
So oviouslly, the sport pakage comes with much more, i decided to go with it. and for me, i really wanted spoiler. is there problem with that? cuz i dont see any problem there... i did my own calculation and ofcourse the sport pakage was worth it so i decided to go with it. but now i ended up with no spoiler but everything else. wouldnt it make me little upset? maybe think just salesperson told me the right information so i could make right decesion..?? isnt that why salesperson is there also? yeah, i dont think you guys are getting my question here. and ganging up on me... but I was just telling a story how did this all happened and my question was which spoiler to go with since they are paying for it??? wow, was my statement that stupid which made me whinnin person? i was just simply asking which spoiler to go with... |

Well AK has posted some of your choices -- at least the ones available for dealer install ... though I've got a nagging suspicion that they may not fit correctly "off the rack". In any event, I would make sure and get someone to photoshop your car with the addition of your spoiler so you have some idea of how it would look -- I looked but couldn't find any pictures of the roadster with a spoiler ... anyone?

I don't think either of those spoilers will work on a Roadster. I actually prefer the Roadster without a spoiler, as it's purely cosmetic on this car anyway. Perhaps a really small lip-type spoiler would look good, but you'll have to wait for Nissan or aftermarket to make one down the road.
It sounds like a little bit of buyer's remorse on your part. If you were expecting full value for your $3000 spoiler addition, you were doomed to disappointment, anyway. I do agree with the logic that the sport package pushes the boundaries of "good value" in the 7AT Roadster. Its appeal to me was the synchro-rev for the 6MT, brakes and WHEELS. If I were like you and didn't care about those things, yeah, the sport pkg would seem like a real waste of money. That said, I think the Rays 19s are almost worth the price of the Sport PKG alone (to me, anyway). For the record, the Aero PKG is completely absent on the Roadster -- it's just not as aerodynamically designed as the Coupe. Those include not only the spoiler, but also front and rear underbody deflectors.
