Zeds dead baby. Zeds dead.
Still kind of in shock. Has to be a total right? Went to make a left turn, saw a blue blue, next thing I'm sitting in a smoky car facing the wrong way. I've taken plenty of hits racing karts but never anything like that. But I walked away unscathed. Banged my finger a little but I'm fine. Airbag hit me in the chest but I'm good. God I loved my z. What a ******* shame. Pardon my language. My ce28s survived as did my back wing and tinted tails and my exhaust and and cats also will be there. I want to recover the ce28s. How does one go about that with the insurance company and adjuster? Can I buy it once its declared a total loss? I've heard of that in the past but have no actual knowledge on it. |
Ugg, not good. Glad you walked away.
|
So sorry to see that. You have the option to buy the car from the insurance company, I believe.

I was able to buy mine back. Once they determine it's a total loss let them know that you'd like to buy it back. They'll determine a value and present it to you.

Thanks for the info guys. I would like another Z but itll be hard to find one as good as that one for the deal I got (12k miles sport with lighted kickers upgraded sound garage queen 6mt for 18k 3 years ago).

What’s a blue blue? Police?

Krazzzz,
Any accident that you can walk away from ... is a good one! You are one lucky SOB. Praise the big GUY upstairs, buy another Z and get on with your life. Glad to hear that you are fine! Gene |

Just asking, not trying to be cocky. Is there something I should protect myself from? |

What Betty said.

Wow, happy to read that you are fine. Get things taken care of with insurance, see a doc and get yourself a new Z!

Where in Pa. did this happen at?
|
Sorry dude and glad you are okay. Good advise on here, listen and follow the recommendations.

Moral of the story: everyone is scum and they'll scam you out of your house unless you protect yourself. |

Hope you're ok. You can’t fix your body as easily as fixing the Z. That’s the important part. |
I know in the past when I totaled my 2009 370z the insurance company allowed me to remove my exhaust as long as I replaced it with the stock. They said I could remove anything I wanted as long as it was replaced with an equal part. So I went to the body shop with my own tools and removed the exhaust. Dumped the factory one in the trunk as it wasn't required to be attached. Removed the K&N drop in filters and replaced with factory ( I had removed the factory when they were still very low mileage and the pack rat I am I never threw away). I removed the rear trunk shade and inner consul tray as those were options, not standard equipment.
I then bought a 2010 NISMO and used all those parts on it. So just check with your insurance adjuster and see if they will allow you to make a swap. Assuming you have all the factory parts |

As long as your liability insurance is strong you probably have nothing to worry about but you might take a rate hit. |

I told the geico lady "if there weren't mitigating circumstances what would make you think I would turn my beloved z in the path of a maniac speeding through an intersection " but I know they are bound by it. Just like if you hit someone from behind you're always liable. That part is what it is. Well see about my rates. I'm just sad about the car and wondering what's next. Another z with forced induction this time? I really would like a factory five 818c. Maybe a second gen viper? Maybe back to land cruisers and get a 200 and build it up? Were on vacation and I rented a jeep and I like it a lot. Maybe a newer jl four door to build up? |

The Z is a solid car and can literally take a beating. Judging from the accident it could have gone a LOT worse. |
sh*t happens.... glad you're ok. don't beat yourself up. let it go and move on.
good luck. Quote:
