Blackstone UOA Report is in

I would have added this to the original thread, but Trips locked that down after VTEC's little gender confusion incident...

Anyways, here it is. Copper is high but as the report deduced, I added a brand new oil cooler at the start of this oil's lifecycle.

How long did it take to get your results?

Mailed it 06/18 from the Chicago burbs. Oil analysis report was generated on 07/03. The additional sample containers I requested and the report arrived 07/05 via USPS and email, respectively.

Not at all! I'm a worrier and this report has given me some peace of mind. I think I'll be sending in a sample every oil change.

I think I'll do the same on the Nismo I recently bought. It's got 60k unknown miles on it.

Get the TBN next time; that will tell you how long you could potentially run your oil in engine & weather or not it is worth a chit

I’m guessing the metal you saw was the copper from the oil cooler?

That's a good question. I don't believe so, as copper is so weakly magnetic that the magnet on the drain plug shouldn't have collected it. I think I'll cruise el forum-o later today and see who else has posted UOAs; maybe compare the #s.

I'm enjoying the increase in knowledge base this provides. Like, Molybdenum? I know a chick named Molly that bends like a pretzel...

Molybdenum compounds (usually a sulfide of some sort) are used as oil modifiers.
