and they spoke of the nismo Z, the nicest yes, but imo the least value buy of the 3 models. Base Sport at 33,000 is the one they should of listed and thats spot on with the 2ss

The new Camaro's reliability record is already muddled by a recall for some electrical part (alternator??). All things taken into consideration, give me a Jap product.

If all you're interested in is HP for the buck, then MotorAuthority is right - no question the new Camaro beats the Z. And, unfortunately, that's the category that Playboy gave to the Z - Playboy's wrong.

The camaro has all that horsepower and torque and it performs slightly faster than a Z in a straightline. The interior is lame. The exterior looks cool from only the front. It doesn't handle as well as the Z. Stops take longer than the Z. As mentioned before the recall. Gas mileage is way worse. EVERYONE and their dead grandma has one now. And with all that torque, a novice track enthusiast with a Z will perform much better. The camaro will just spin tires with all that low end torque to someone not used to it. If we are talking best bang for the buck, I'd include the Z, GTR, and cobalt SS as the top 3. The Z will outperform cars that cost twice as much as it does. The cobalt SS is CHEAP for a car that weighs under 3k lbs with 260 hp/tq and even cheaper to make faster despite it fwd. In fact there is a guy at my work who has a cobalt SS that can beat another one of my co worker's 03 vette Z51 (I think its called the Z51 package?). AND the GTR is an $80,000 supercar that can outperform so many other cars that cost literally 3 times and up as much as it does. Of course there is a mark up on right now however.
