Well I guess it does now. However, it appears that we may disagree on how it originated or the original intent of the term "RICE". As far as where have I been, I'm sure that was a rhetorical question and does not require an answer.

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=rice As stated above it means many things to many people, however, what was the intent of the term? Last edited by gryghst; 05-03-2019 at 09:34 PM. |

Back in the day ricer was a derogatory term used for anyone who drove an import...Asian of course as they all ate rice ( we were pretty uneducated towards different races back then) and the term ricer really had no bearing on what nationality the person driving the car was....it was a jap car, RICER. We just lauged at them. Now, ricer has morphed into a term to describe meatheads that stick a Folgers fart can on thier tailpipe or duct taped a 6 foot wing on the trunk. Of course, things have changed quite a bit...nobody in their right mind laughs at a GTR for example. Over the years my attitude even towards the fart-can crowd has changed...back in my day we could buy a 6 banger Nova for a hundred bucks, drop in a 350 small block and a turbo 350 or 400 tranny, 12 bolt rear and go have fun. Young guys havent been able to do that for a long time now....so years back I sort of started sympathizing with these types..what can they do these days except cosmetic stuff on an old Honda....Hell, I dont even know if high schools still HAVE a shop class... We were all building engines in our parents garages at 15 or 16 (327 was my first) but today? Not so much. Oh, I think my little base Z is fantastic, just love it...but its not quite the same as riding around in my 2010 SRT8 6.1 hemi ...6M of course. Yes i know...apples and oranges...was just putting it out there

My experiences have been, it's a term to mock Japanese cars, beginning maybe with Tuner cars like Homdas? I was born with a natural tan and have heard all those names directed my way so I'm familiar with how there are used. Happened again today. I was on my way to a Bait/tackle/gun shop at Route 40 and Woods Chapel, Blue Springs, Missouri to pick up the lower receiver to a rifle I'm building. As I left, and pulled up to the light, a lifted light blue Dodge truck. White guy, ball cap, and playing some kind of rap I've never heard before. Really loud. Even my teen aged son never heard it before. He looks down at me, revs his engine, and does a burn out taking off real fast when the light changed. I just laughed. I have a Z not a John Deere.

You guys will say this is dumb or can be done with a six, but, please indulge me if you will. If I had the money, I'd like to find a rolling no drive train 370z, and dropped a stroked 5.6 V8 with either twin turbos or the right super-charger. That big block highly modified 57 Chevy that tried to race me last Sunday, in between the trucks, hmmm.

Not dumb at all. Do what makes you happy. Most people on here have pulled an Alice, i.e. gone down the rabbit hole of their choice.

I've been down a few rabbit holes in my time. Couple of them, I'm still in.

All too funny and so true. Truck drivers ( the jacked up, redneck type) in my part of the world feel really entitled. They are the worst for courtesy and feel like they own the road.
The biggest issue out here, is not them wanting to race but tailgating. The race part comes inherently to them because they know they have 600HP and stupid torque to go with it. They are so high up and get the feeling of driving a 747, they get the same god complex pilots do. LOL. But this is where the fun begins. I cant count how many times these idiots have tailed me. I don't do it on purpose, but it's what traffic dictates. I don't like driving slow either. As soon as it opens up in front of me, that's when I pull away before they know what to do with that 600HP, 600ft.lbs of torque they so admire. They try to catch up, but it's too late. I'm in the turn now, and all that power and height advantage couldn't keep em glued to the floor even if they used gorilla tape. In the good words of Dirty Harry: "Man has got to know his limitations". |

Same here. Tell me it ain't so in PA. I lived in Erie and Philly as a kid and PA remains on my list of places I might return. Other than my immediate family, I have no one here but lots of people back there

For BettyZ, I take that as a yes vote on my rabbit hole. If I ever have the money, watch out for a red "570Z." I've been working on a rabbit hole American car for years.
