Yep. Information is out on the web now. Zero mechanical or bodywork changes. Just stickers and badges.........

Awesome, it is the most attractive version of the car to date

It’s not terrible. Yes, just an appearance package, but so was the 40th and every other anniversary edition before it. Those who were expecting performance upgrades, a body refresh, or even a new model were expecting too much.

My 20th Maxima at least had a body kit !

Quicksilvers 04-16-2019 09:18 AM

I have observed other picks out there of the 50th Anniversary Z as well and it looks pretty unique and sharp I think. Thank you Nissan for continuing to build the Z model thumbs up. I am just thankful that Nissan keeps the Z model!

i like it, nice call back to a classic paint scheme. i would have liked some blue on the red + white version though

One can buy some of the sports package parts and install, and claim its better than the upgraded model.

Sorry to say it’s on life support. Time to pull the plug. I just don’t understand why...

This poll is at the end of Car and Drivers article. We aren’t the only ones underwhelmed by Nissans efforts.

Zezus 04-16-2019 03:50 PM

Oh sweet baby jesus... The color scheme is terrible, and the wheels look like what came on the last generation civic si... and they are 3 colors?
Yuck..

i definitely don't care for the wheels... i don't know why they would go with such a 'modern' looking wheel on a car attempting a 'classic' aesthetic.

granted they didn't quite nail the original:

I’m glad I got my 2018 Sport Tech when I did back Nov. 2017. Not crazy about graphics packages. I’ve yet to see another 2018 or 2019 Sport trim or higher between Upstate SC and Atlanta.

CRiZO 04-16-2019 04:30 PM

The 40th wasn't TRYING to be cool, it just was. A classy interior and a gorgeous paint job.

You'd think the 50th would have been a Nismo in livery or something at least if they were just going with stickers and this tacky approach.

They didn't just not quite nail it, they lost grip on the hammer and killed the foreman.

Why does the limited production GTR have more difference among its trim levels than the Z across any version over 10 years? Hell, the GTR has wider fenders, different engine levels, suspension, seats, aero, exclusive colors (two versions of gunmetal) to differentiate its versions

Because the Z stopped being Nissan's flagship sports car when they released the GT-R. Now it's the red-headed, left-handed stepchild: ignored until its birthday, then given some hand-me-down stickers as a present.

Best reader feedback from the Jalopnik article .... "When you hit up the paint & stickers aisle at AutoZone"

Nissan just gave us loyal Z fans and Pete Brock a big **** YOU. And I mistakenly thought that doing nothing was the worst.

280driver 04-16-2019 08:06 PM

I️ would loved to have seen them do a modern version of a g-nose front end with the Nismo power bump. That would not have taken much, would have been cool as hell and would have paid homage to the original.

Now you've made me extra sad. That would've been dope.

I'm so glad I sold my 2010 Z last year. Not only was it outdated to current brands, but the latest Z makes it even less attractive. Nissan is far behind other makers in appeal and HP worthy.

i'm new to this board, and i see this attitude a lot... i don't quite understand it. how can an appearance package on a 2020 car make your 2010 less attractive?

if you have the car you like, what does it matter what nissan does with the z platform? is it that many people here don't like their 370z, are eager to buy a new car, and just really want it to be a nissan?

I can understand people that are upset over Nissan pinching off a fat, steaming loaf on the Z brand.

I also think that people who no longer own a Z, who then get on a Z forum to announce they're glad they sold their Z, because of a weaksauce variant that goes on the market a decade after their former car, probably have a bit too much of their self-esteem wrapped up in their car.

And/or they're hysterically under-endowed.

I'm guessing you haven't seen the news of the updates for the 2020 GTR and the re-release of Bayside Blue for the 50th Anniversary... Nissan seriously doesn't give a single **** about the Z whatsoever.
