Am I Crazy? Mod List and feedback
Soon after buying a brand new nismo I started having the hyper mod bug syndrome. I am starting to think down the road when all is set and done if i should have just gotten a used gtr or continue down this path. Here is a very short list as of now
(4100) Te37 wheels including center cap cover and rays hubring (4100) (230). R40 Iconix Lug nuts (350). Set of pressure sensor Autel maxi tpms ts508 (1200) Brand new michelin pilot tires (1300) Brand new michelin winter tires (370). Diff cover plus gear motul fluid/Spl diff solid bushing that i then replaced with whiteline poly (70). 3 extra motul diff gear oil to reflush after break in (98). whiteline poly bushing (150). Z1 subframe collar (1900) Motordyne shockwave (155) Phillips X-treme Vision bulb (114) K&N drop in filter (140). Raceseng ahift knob (260). Windows tint (50). Dress up bolts Which puts me over 10k at the moment and im not even close halfway through my build. This puts me over 50k already including the car plus mod. Im at the brand new supra territory now and im starting to second guess myself. I value your opinion and thanks in advance. Last edited by Zalot; 04-13-2019 at 09:47 AM. |

How are those mods over $10K? I can see where you spent around $5-6K~ish for the wheels/tires and overpriced Motordyne exhaust, but not sure where the other $4K went... You need to learn to search for sales and part outs otherwise you're doing yourself (and your wallet) a great disservice.

Mod bug aka rabbit hole will mostly bite the same way with a more expensive car. You ain’t gonna keep the Supra stock, and next thing you know you’ll be in the $70k range.
OFF TOPIC: ever heard about the Ft86/FRS recall fiasco, where the Toyota techs screwed the pooch leading to multiple catastrophic engine failure? Have fun with having Toyota guys deal with a BMW engine lol. Edit: just saw you came from an 86

Been there done that... with what I put into my Nismo the first year, I could have paid it off entirely. What's the point of owning a car if you can't tinker with it? #noragrets.

OP
If you're second guessing yourself about the money, you can look the other way on things like the non oem bulbs and the aftermarket diff cover, etc... I'm assuming you will not be tracking the car if you're going to pay that much for bulbs but then skimp on something like the intake. Don't forget to add in a tune also. |
