I'm looking to track my 7 year 100K mile Z. Build budget has ballooned to 12K with 0 hp increase :twocents:
And that is mostly maintenance. Plus a differential. Sticking with stock suspension for now. You can spend a lot and not do much on this platform. Make sure the money you spend gives you the results you desire. Otherwise, don't bother. |

My mods so far: Stillen gen 3 intakes, FI catback exhaust, Z1 32 core oil cooler and a tune. Went from 275 WHP to 319 WHP. Still running stock Manifolds and stock Cats due to being my DD and my subdivisions noice ordinance . Total cost was just over $4500 including installation. Best bang for your buck! |
While i do understand that the concensus here considers a mod as an actual mod only when there is a gain in power, im a little bit peculiar in my build. I will stop calling my Changes as a mod but rather a tweak so we can all stop the bickering over some matters that are trivial and non sense. I presume that we are all adults here and that we can all act civil and respectful. We can all agree to disagree. This thread is not about bashing the platform but rather a plea to the experts from a novice to do it right. The gtr and supra comment on my first post were merely a sarcasm and nothing more. Everything on the list on my first post serve a purpose other than cosmetic or maintenance in my opinion. At this point, any money spent towards the build on a brand new car, im considering as a tweak. I am coming from an 86 platform and man that car is solid and well balanced. It is efficient and it actually forces you to become astute in you driving skill. That was a humbling experience for me. That car was a momentum car. You almost always have to create your advantage due to the lack in power and you learn to do it efficiently. It excels in other ways but thats for another topic. That being said, my goal is not about power at this time but to build a drivers car and not a muscle car. I want to build this car to be efficient and balance (aerodynamics, unsprung weight, weight distribution and etc). I want A car that is almost an extension of my body. I dont care about dyno numbers unless it has 400whp on a full bolts on na car. If you could recreate that then sure i will look that way. i only want an efficient and balance car right now. When The time comes where i want more power, i will look into FI or maybe even a different platform and not the bolts on. I saw potential on this car regardless of what others have actually said that this is not balance. For instance, a youtubers including savagegeese & matt farah to name a few think that this car is unbalanced. In my opinion the z is on par with the 86 if not better. I know it could be improved and that is my goal.
Im also interested on some of your alignment spec and what they do if you care to share. You may even pm them to me if you are not confortable in sharing them publicly. Thank you again and i appreciate the latest post and found them very helpful |

There are things that can be done for paybacks... but mostly at night. I'll leave it at that. :icon08: |
