Keyfob sucks
Anyone else? Or just me?
My g37 I had before and my Z now the lock button sucks. Not unlock, just lock. She ignores it half the time, and if it’s in my pocket, forget it. It’s not locking. I didn’t realize I wore lead pants :shakes head: |
I have to have mine in the fobgina or in the cup holder to start it. have to hold fob against window to unlock/lock it. forget about using the button on the door handle lol. I use the actual key most of the time.
|
Never have any problems with it.
Though I almost always just lock it by pressing the button on the door. Sometimes I'll forget if I did after parking and will use the fob to double check. Range is great. |
Try replacing the battery
|
Tried 4 brand new batteries in mine. ECUtek bluetooth modules screws with the range a lot. but even with that removed I have to be within 1 ft of car to unlock.
|
Mine stopped working after my battery died a while back. Got a new battery and still found myself having to insert the fob into the fobgina to start the car. Then about two weeks later it randomly started working wirelessly again. No clue wtf happened...

FWIW the two sensors are under the center console and on the structural hump between the rear strut towers. I've swapped batteries too and still need to be in damn-near physical contact with the car for her to open up.

If you're TOO close, that can make it not work because the car isn't sure if you're inside or out. The manual says to not press the door button with the hand the remote is in, I've experienced that.
|
i've had no problems. when it didn't work i replaced the battery and then it's fine. also, don't keep it near your phone, that may screw it up.

HMMMM i keep mine in my small pocket in my jeans the one that was made for pocket watches. I never have a problem with using the door buttons, the one time i did, I replaced the FOB battery and it was all good again. I even forgot it in my jeans once and it went thru the washer and dryer and still works , I know crazy huh.

Mine has never not worked. Maybe I don't have a magnetic personality to screw up the fobwaves :)
BTW...my fobgina is still a virgin... |

I know I'm not the only one here that got my key stuck in the fobgina.

Holy crap a trips sighting in my thread! Lol
Yeah, I’ve changed the battery twice, no luck. Glad to hear I’m not the only one... I wonder if GTR owners put up with the same crap |
I too hate the fobs. When my keys are in my pocket, I'm constantly triggering the panic button at home. Drives me crazy. You'd think they would recess the keys into the fob a bit to prevent that.
I too have recently replaced batteries. There's some days I get in the car and the car doesn't recognize I have the fob on me...until I push a button on it, then it'll start. This new technology can pound sand. I miss traditional keys. |

This is a nissan problem in general. Both key fob on my pathfinder stopped working even after changing the batteries. I think they will have to be reprogrammed or replaced. It seems they get damaged or something inside that conducts the signal gets bent during battery change
|
I’m shocked at the amount of people with this issue. I’m on my 3rd Z and none of them had any fob issues. I can lock/unlock/roll down the windows with the fob approx 9 feet away from the car and for all three Z’s, one of which had the older style fobs.
