Did the prior owner repaint the front bumper?

Just found out in the front near the headlight on something weird. There are some white paint color between the headlight and bumper? I am not sure if the prior owner repaint the front bumper or is it normal paint in the Zs? |

Doesn’t look factory at all; fascia is easily removed for painting.

I bought the car used. I took the car on the 7 hours road trip , speed up to 120mph and the car does not show any sighs of major damage at all.
Does anyone got the same issue buying used? When I checked the car history, the last owner took the car to the dealer for maintenance every 5000 miles. Not sure if I get a lemon |

Def repainted. Looks like it was faded to the hood as well. Could be something as simple as paint chip repair, but people doing cheap paint jobs like that tend to not do that...
Don't stress about it. If the car is fine, the car is fine. Superficial things are just that. If there was major damage, the bumper would have been replaced. If you're concerned, all the body panels have a VIN on them. You can see if it matches. Last edited by CRiZO; 03-23-2019 at 11:16 PM. |

Front Nose is definitely a rock/bug magnet...it could have been touched up

Looks like a repaint to me. But, as others have said, it is not uncommon for the front cover to get resprayed. Unless you find evidence of other repairs, it's not worth losing sleep over. Drive and enjoy.

There is probably a procedure in the FSM (link in my sig). If you plan on doing your own work on your Z, the FSM is an invaluable resource.

OP, there is a portable device, about the size of a laser infrared thermometer, that measures the paint thickness and will give you an idea if any part of the vehicle has been repainted. Also, as others have stated, each original oem part will have the VIN sticker and will be obvious if transferred. Also, not everything can make it to the car history report.

is the vin tag on the bump? If so, probably just a respray which isn't uncommon due to rock chips/scratches. And I wouldn't worry about it.

I believe on the front bumper it's sitting right there on top to the right of the latch. It's easy to see.
They're applied at factory so a replacement bumper cover, even if OEM, won't have one. |
