So stupid - water in gas

I went through a touchless car wash with my gas door open and cap off. The spray arm went by my 2018 Z twice before I realized... I'm an idiot.

Default So stupid - water in gas

I went through a touchless car wash with my gas door open and cap off. The spray arm went by my 2018 Z twice before I realized... I'm an idiot. I had just filled it up with a full tank.

I probably got a couple ounces of water and some soap in my gas line by my estimates.

What should I do??? I just bought this car and want to own it literally until I die. It's beautiful and I'll love it in 50 years. So I'm worried I just destroyed the engine. I drove it home and it was totally fine and haven't driven since.

Should I get the tank drained? Or add Heet water remover? Any guidance is appreciated.

The water is going to separate and collect at the bottom of your tank. You should probably siphon all of the gas and water out as soon as possible.

Heet is another choice.

Edit: Here's a link to Heet.

Drive it.

A little water wont effect it at all, on a full tank.

Water settles to the bottom of the tank. The fuel pickup is on the bottom, too.
If you haven't had an issue by now, you probably got away with it. As previously stated, adding alcohol will absorb the water, and mix with the gasoline.
Your local hardware store will have pure methanol, in half-gallon containers. It's used in varnishing furniture. That should be enough to treat 4 or 5 tanks of gas.

Honestly I think it'll be fine. I'm not a mechanic or fuel expert or anything but I did save 15% by switching my car insurance to Geico...

I highly recommend towing your Z to a local shop or Nissan dealership service department that you trust and have them completely empty your gasoline tank, remove and hand clean all your fuel injectors, and fill your gasoline tank with fresh top tier 91+ octane gasoline like Chevron or Texaco with Techron. You will have a hard time warrantying your engine if your engine hydro locks from there being water inside your engine good luck. If your engine is torn down and inspected moisture/oxidation can be found. I highly recommend do not drive your Z until you get it fixed.

Most gas has a decent amount of ethanol in it anyway which would "absorb" a little water I'd think? That's basically what heet is.
