I'm surprised only 2 people mentioned the new q60's considering it's still a nissan and how much power you can get from the VR30. Yes it may not feel as sporty but being able to get around 430whp with just intakes, exhaust, and a tune seems too good to pass up.

Exactly that. :driving: Lots of people fixated on horsepower here.

no way you'd get close to touching a C7 Grand Sport or Z06 around $40K. Maybe after the C8 comes out but sounds like OP needs a car NOW
.

I have to vote for a camero with LS or possibly an M4 (although a stretch at $40K as well)

I find it too heavy and a bit boring so picked a up a ‘14 Z Sport 6MT last month for my fun car fix. I think a cheap manual is more fun than a expensive auto car. I also consider the Z as a bargain Supra based on looks and power.

If it was me and if you don’t have a family, I would be looking at C7 GS or Z06. Or get a Z and invest the rest especially when a recession is upon us.

After having a new expensive car, I just enjoy the used and older cars more to be honest. So consider 2 fun toys versus one expensive one.

My current garage:
‘17 RC F - company car/lease and daily
‘14 Z - fun project car which will end up being a future track car
‘13 FJ Cruiser - dad duties
‘00 S2000 - my forever car which I’ll be buried in

Nice garage!

My current garage:

1974 Ford Bronco (408 stroker / 520hp / 430tq)
2010 Toyota Tundra
2010 Nissan 370z (Totalled :-/)

Glad to hear you weren’t hurt in the wreck

Spending more for less power just doesn't make sense to me unless I'm missing something. And when are the Supra's even available? For $50-55k, I can buy a used Corvette Z06 which will smoke them all!

I have found a 2017 Nismo with 5k miles on it for $31k. Besides the body features, what are the biggest differences between a Nismo and a Sport package? My 2010 Z had the Fast Intentions exhaust, Stillen CAI, and a tune. Would I need those items on a Nismo or do they come standard? Also, the stereo system in my Z was AWFUL...is the Nismo system far superior? What other items are superior? The same dealer has a 2018 Sport Package with 7k miles for $24k.

I'm glad you're ok. I'll also echo the suggestion of going to get checked out just to be sure.

That said, I keep seeing this about the same or less power, but it's not entirely the case. The new Supras likely put more torque to the wheels than the Z even makes. They make 95 more at the crank. And the Supra weighs the same, probably less than the Nismo by a 100-150lbs.

And assuming it's the same B58 that's used in BMW's, you'll be able to bump it up to ~380whp with just a tune. Plus the B58 is closed deck and has forged pistons/rods/crank so it has a ton of potential for big power.

Also read they tend to be underrated and come making the advertised crank numbers to the wheels.

For the $40-50k range, I'd also be looking at Q60. That VR30 is an animal and has been proven to be underrated. Z1 baselined a bone stock 1 and it put 304whp/311wtq down, even though they're only supposed to make 300/300 crank, and with nothing more than a tune, it made 411/453. It's a nice car and for $600 in "mods" you can add 100/150. That's a helluva hp/$ gain.

If I was in your shoes, I would never look at a q60s coupe. They look like a girls car, they come auto and their trans and suspensions are garbage. M2's and M3's are better looking cars

Fully agree. On top of that you can get them lightly used for 30-35k so it's pretty much a steal.

I would look into 981 cayman s

Car shopping when you've gotta have a car SUCKS! Lol.....I've looked at a lot of cars. I've driven a Lexus RCF which was badass, but I don't want to spend $45-50k on a daily driver. It was a sweet car though! I drove a GT350 last week. It sounded like a race car (awesome), but honestly, it felt big, heavy and not that fast. I think I have narrowed it down to a Z Sport, Z Nismo....and out of nowhere...a Lexus ISF! Lol...are any of you familiar with the Lexus ISF? I have read a ton about them and there are lots of positive comments...and negative comments are VERY rare! Your thoughts?

I would get a 2018 or 2019 Nismo Z if you can get one!

You could just get a beater, wait for the next iteration of the Z lineup, or like mentioned before spring for a Supra (few mods and I expect 400HP boosted will be no problem). I am considering this route.

You have so many options. I will say this about my 2017 Nismo, I love driving it, it is a true sports car, you feel the road, the gears, the suspension out the box is amazing, but it is nothing more than a sports car IMHO, you will not get any luxuries and features of cars at the same price point. I recently drove my moms 2018 Accord....and was impressed! Like WTF although it felt heavy, it had a ton of features that I would love my Z to have, again the Z is a true sports car. Same thing with the new Camaro and Vette, features that I would hope the Nismo or any 2015 plus Z would have. My Z is not meant for comfort or luxury, it is meant to be driven by a true driver. However, you would think it would have some of the features of the cars being released today at its price. If this car is going to be your daily, and you want something soon, get a used RC or IS, if it is a weekend car then go for the Nismo IMHO.

The ISF is a sick ride, if I could have afforded it at the time back then I would have jumped on it, my other baby was an 2010 IS350...I absolutely loved that car and will probably get another IS soon as a second car. Either way good luck and glad you are alright, you still should see a doctor and have a thorough exam if you have not done so already. Let us know what you decide, I am excited for you on your next car journey.
