Default Your thought on the availibility of 370z's as time goes on?

This is probably due to me being bored at lunchtime, but what do you guys think about the availability of 370z's in the next several months or as time goes on in general?

The reason I'm posing this question is because we all know our economy isn't at its best right now and makers like BMW already announced that they will cut production numbers down quite a bit in the next year. Mitsubishi has also announced that they will not be bringing any Evo X's in for the next year. Evo X's will still be made, but won't be brought into the U.S.

Do you guys think that Nissan will follow along those line and keep only several 370z's in stock at each dealership?

I don't know if I can realistically see 15+ Z's sitting at each dealership like I saw with the 350z's anytime soon, although it would be great for us as buyers.

The real turn off is that, granted there aren't many different trims of the 370 as there were on the 350, it would be a pain to settle for something else or wait months to order the model/trim you want.

Laws of economics dictate that they will keep and move cars that sell in the marketplace. During harsh economic times people immediately cut down on luxury items. For most people especially families, a 2 door sports car is a luxury good. It follows then that the demand for a 2 door sports car like the Z will go down. So the numbers of Zs sitting on dealer lots will be less to make room for cars that do sell in this market.

As far as the future of the Z both in terms of actual allocation numbers and its existence the big question is how quickly the economy will turn around. If you're in the market for a 2 door sports car you probably won't find a better time to buy one than right now. Give it 6 months to a year and I'm confident the prices on the Z will drop even further.

It's gonna get worse before it gets better... Just my opinion regarding the economic state of our great nation!

You mean now as in today or now as in within this year?

The car has been out for a week and I see people getting really close to invoice already. So I'm tempted to wait it out until at least summer before I start emailing dealerships. And I'm hoping that I don't have to order a car again. The wait is a killer!

Its about time for these auto manufacturers are forced to cut down on their production. All those new cars and trucks piled by the tens of thousands each year at every dealer, that everyone knew, there was no way in hell they were all going to be sold.

I say just build the car you want online, fax details to your (car guy) dealer, wait a couple of months for the build time and get your car. We purchase most of our vehicles in this fashion..We seldom step foot on a dealers lot. My wife ordered her past 335 and her current 328 by phone in about 10mins.

Imo dealers should only have demos on their lots.. Like Porsche is doing with the 911 turbo (built to order).

Lastly I think it's for the best, as the less Z's (or any fav car) on the road the better.

I think the dealerships will get a decent amount of Z's within the couple months. They definetly won't treat the 370 as the GTR. Sooooo, don't be scurrrrrrrrrrrrrred if your broke right now!

It will probably end up like the 2008 350! No sarcasm intended!

Lol I'm not broke at all. When I buy the 370z, the car will be paid off before I leave. But what fun would be to buy it now...no aftermarket parts are out for it yet. Like everyone else, I'd want the best deal possible and I'd like to avoid ordering the car again. I almost went crazy waiting for my 335i to be built.

Can you elaborate on this? I don't know much about the '08 350z. I'm guessing they're just sitting at dealerships and not moving? Sorry I can't view the links..posting from the cell.

Right now. You shouldn't be paying over MSRP for this car at this moment which is why dealers offering this car on ebay and such for a few thousand over MSRP is laughable. Like you said some people are negotiating prices around invoice right now. If the economy was going full steam ahead I would bet anything dealers would be marking up this car like crazy.

The economy is going to be in the crapper for some time. Things are pretty bad and its gonna take years for this to turn around. There's a lot of excess that needs to be trimmed in the form of bankruptcies, mergers, etc. So be patient and you'll seal a great deal on the 370 if you haven't already.

+1, I agree with you on the turnaround time needed for the economy to get better. I was looking into an E92 M3 as my next car, but even at invoice, after the TTL, the car comes to around $70k well equipped. I didn't really consider the 370z until I saw one on the road the other day..I thought it was mean looking.

I'd be happy if I can land a touring with navi, sport, and illuminated sills for $40k out the door. I don't think it's too farfetched since a member on here already got a similar deal with the addition of tint and free oil changes for life for around $41k out the door.

I'll frequent the board and read what kind of deals people are getting, but realistically I don't think I'll contact dealerships until summer.

I remember back when the 350z first launched..the economy was quite great back then, and the first one sold for around $50k on eBay if I'm not mistaking.

The links: Several 2008's are still sitting on the lots! They failed to sell because people waited for the 2009 model! Plus people didn't like the hump-nose-hood(2008)!
Now we have people who do not like the headlites & taillites(2009), they want to wait for the 2010, to see the changes(if any,I doubt it)!

I would expect a "refresh" after 3 years and a new model in 6.
