Do newer model Z's make more power?
Hey, sorry if this has already been talked about. I can't seem to find anything solid on it but have seen a few people mention it, including Z1.
As the title says, do newer model Z's tend to make more power on the dyno after bolt ons and a tune? I was watching a video from Z1 where they mentioned the newer models make more power typically, and wanted some more info on that. |

I believe the only difference is the newer models have direct injection. Although the manufacturer claims it's still 332hp and 350hp for the NISMO, some have stated, including Z1, they typically dyno slightly higher. I personally have seen no evidence of this. I have a 2009 and my dyno numbers have been very surprising. So if you own an earlier model and you're concerned with this, don't waste your time being discouraged.

Nope. There is no direct injection in newer models. The VQ37 engines are essentially the same as they were when introduced in 2009. I would’ve been extremely surprised if this were actually true. It requires a significant redesign to incorporate direct injection into an engine, basically a new engine. |

2015+ Headers are a different design. Could be a contributing factor.

There are actually a couple of different things going on with the 2015+ model years. But the fact is any power difference between the models is essentially negligible. The weather variable can impact your dyno results far more than these minor design changes that have occurred over the years.

There is no difference between headers on a Nismo and a base model that are the same model years.

A couple of tuners have notice a small increase in HP on 2015+ Z with full bolt-ons over older Z's with the same bolt-ons. The one post I read said that there is a difference in the 2015+ ECU's. If I remember right. They have more RAM. There is basically 3 different ECU's for the years. '09, '10 to '14, '15+. Each up-grade has more stuff in it.
